In this episode I chat with Gavin Morgan, an Educational Psychologist, Academic Tutor and member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group, who helped the Government make evidence based decisions during the pandemic. Gratitude to Tim for creating this podcast

I first discovered this series during lockdown prior to beginning my training as an EP.
The podcasts accompanied me on extended walks, like a friend and made me feel like I was listening to conversations between truly humanitarian people who are currently working in the field and bringing their own personalities, histories and unique lens to the area of Educational Psychology. Underpinning each conversation is Tim bringing the listener and the conversant back to how we can use and think about ‘hope’ in the context of this type of work. Not only has it educated me and given me a deeper insight into the ways in which EP’s can work - it also helped me to feel connected to the profession in a way that text books and journals can be quite alienating. It brought the human back for me in my learning about what it is EP’s do and thereby set me up with enthusiasm for starting my training.

Listening to the podcasts is a pleasure - rather than a chore - for which I am very grateful, as indeed, even those in postgrad education can struggle with reading and comprehension at times. This has brought life to some of those academic theories and shown real life application of psychology.

Each episode is well structured and follow a predictable pattern and are easily accessible to anyone who is interested in learning more about this hard to define profession.

Fascinating!

I found the episode on resilience and the polyvagal theory fascinating - it has really resonated with me and inspired me on my choice of masters research - thank you!
