The Adventures of Pinocchio and Free Speech Part 3/4

The Adventures of Pinocchio and Free Speech Part 3/4

In the finale of the Adventures of Pinocchio and Free Speech series, we visit many different episodes of this podcast. From the UK to the US and from Cambridge to Canada; we are fighting against the (not so) slow erosion of one of the most powerful forces that many would consider inalienable. The power with which God created the world. The power that can combine a family through marriage or tear it apart through war. The spoken and written word. The pen is mightier than the sword.

This Lesson From The Bible Will Make You Unstoppable | Jordan Peterson at Franciscan University

This Lesson From The Bible Will Make You Unstoppable | Jordan Peterson at Franciscan University

This episode was recorded on April 4, 2022.

I discussed gratitude, faith, and suffering in this conversation at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. How can we be sure that pain is a solid guiding principle as we navigate the world? What is the underlying structure of pain, and what does it point at?

We also touched on a myriad of topics around those central themes, such as sin and the symbol of the snake, giving advice, resurrection, the relationship between faith and suffering, evil, the effect we have on others, and sunsets.

You Probably Should Have Read The Bible | Jordan Peterson at Franciscan University of Steubenville

You Probably Should Have Read The Bible | Jordan Peterson at Franciscan University of Steubenville

This episode was recorded on April 4, 2022.

In this speech at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Jordan shared recent thoughts on ethics, scripture, and the problem of perception. He asked the audience to reflect on how we remember great stories (but seem to instantly forget bad ones), why Western culture ended up being a book (instead of—say—a sickle), and whether the West truly is a “phallogocentric" culture.

All of this, Jordan says, tied to a broader possibility—perhaps his “most radical claim"—that, as we navigate the value structures we call reality, a lot of so-called “navigational” problems are really veiled ethical ones.

Episodes not showing up since jan 2022

Even though it shows there’s a new episode realised the podcasts stoped updating at end of jan out of the many podcasts I download this has only happened to Jordan’s what’s going on apple

Dave's_Penguin_Army ,

Great content butchered by apple

No need to review Peterson. My son is named after him, so you get the idea. My problem is the appalling editing on the show. It jumps about randomly with gaps or repeats. Very annoying.

However, I have since discovered this only happens on Apple! The editing is fine on YouTube and Spotify. Tin foil hat time?

Ashley D 1976 ,

The interview with Sir Roger Penrose

Separately Peterson and Penrose are geniuses in their field. Together, probably due to their polarised thinking, analytics techniques, field of expertise, this interview was frustrating to listen to. Constant need for each to clarify, explain then clarify and explain over and over again without the question ever being answered.
I have learned so much from many of Petersons books and have really expanded my thinking and deepened my understanding through these podcast interviews however I feel like I just wasted 90 minutes of my life listening to something that I was desperate to get better, eager to understand . Never mind….. onto the next episode!!
