Robin Dunbar is an anthropologist, evolutionary psychologist, head of the Social and Evolutionary Neuroscience Research Group at the University of Oxford and an author.

Expect to learn why any group size over 90 ends up with more people being killed than being born, why men don't have a best friend forever but women do, the link between human brain size and social groups, how male and female friendships differ, why the modern world has the most loneliness ever, what the single largest impact on your health is and much more...

#601 - Dr Andrew Thomas - Evolution's Secrets To Understanding Relationships

Dr Andrew Thomas is a senior lecturer of psychology at Swansea University whose research focuses on sex differences and relationship preferences from an evolutionary perspective.
Evolution explains a large portion of why we like the things we like. Who we're attracted to, why we fall into and out of love, how our mental state affects our mating strategies. Therefore, if you are a human who ever intends on being in a relationship, this might be useful.
Expect to learn the 5 evolutionary theories which explain much of human mating, whether ChatGPT can correctly predict what traits men and women like most in each other, how many previous sexual partners people say they want their current partner to have had, how open men & women in the West are to polyamorous relationships, how sexual arousal can ruin a faithful relationship and much more...

Thanks Chris, such an inspiring episode, full of great insights and reflection. This is Lydia from Taiwan but living in the UK at the moment, just wanted to leave a comment and let you know the content you created is much appreciated. 👍

Too bad about the foul language and blasphemy

Content wise, great podcast but put off listening to more episodes due to the host's unnecessary use of foul language and blasphemy

Lenspuppy ,

A great find

I had been a dedicated listener of a different podcast, one that is very well known and was based on interesting conversations around entrepreneurship but now appears focused on emotional celebrity life stories with a click-baity feel. This was very off putting and hence I needed to find a new podcast to fill my needs for conversations that are informative, inspiring and thought-provoking. Thank you Chris, as your podcast has met those needs very nicely! Thank you for staying focused on your theme of “modern wisdom” and not deviating from intellectual conversations with guests who bring so much to the table. Please don’t ever go the other way and look for “celebs” to bring you a wider reach. Just one small critique is sometimes the guest gets cut off when they want to flesh out their thoughts further - it would be great to let them have more space to fully air their ideas because that’s often where the ah-ha moments are. I’m really enjoying going through your extensive library and looking forward to what your next guest can bring to the table. Thank you!
