Episode 37 - ATS - All the Stuff Says Farewell

Episode 37 - ATS - All the Stuff Says Farewell

On this bittersweet episode, the All the Stuff gals Jen Turrell, Financial Personal Trainer for Women, Lisa Carpenter, Transformational Life and Nutrition Coach, and Lisa Sharp, Empowerment Coach and Clutter Expert, say Farewell, and share their takeaways from hosting this podcast.

Lisa Carpenter begins by sharing her story regarding debt, and how, over the run of this podcast, she has been able to come to terms with it, do the work to get herself out of debt, and most importantly, into a new mindset.

Jen also shares her big changes, including a rebrand of her podcast Financial Fluency, and her desire to talk about a lot more topics than just finances.  She plans on focussing a lot more on her writing as well.

On her side, Lisa Sharp summarizes that the issues we have in life are because we think we are the only ones.  Being isolated and thinking it is just you, is so painful and so not necessary.  Sharing our feelings with honest conversation is one of the biggest gifts we can give each other.   Taking inspired action is great, and when it is time to let go, it is time…

Episode 36 - ATS - How to Manage Your Moods and S.A.D.

Episode 36 - ATS - How to Manage Your Moods and S.A.D.

Are the cold, dreary days of winter giving you the blues?  Today, the All the Stuff gals Jen Turrell, Financial Personal Trainer for Women, Lisa Carpenter, Transformational Life and Nutrition Coach, and Lisa Sharp, Empowerment Coach and Clutter Expert, share their thoughts on seasonal mood swings and how to manage them.

When Lisa Sharp discovered she was suffering from S.A.D. she immediately started research to find out what could help the feelings of sadness and depression that come along with this ailment.  Fish oil and a sun lamp proved extremely beneficial to her and helps her  combat the effects of the gloomy weather.

Lisa Carpenter lives in Vancouver where it is quite grey and gloomy from the months of November to February.  She also suffers from S.A.D., and has a huge sun lamp to regenerate, along with vitamin supplements including vitamin D and omega 3s.  She also recognizes that this time of year is a time where she has to up her self care and be as kind and compassionate towards herself as possible.

Omega 3s, or fish oil, is extremely important in supporting your emotional health and moods both during periods of S.A.D., and PMS.  Flax oil is also very beneficial and can be added to foods such a soups and salads.  Lisa Sharp suggest a subscribe and save through Amazon so you never run out and use your timer or alarm on your phone to remind you to take it.  Decluttering your environment is also a great way to clear out heaviness.

While it is normal to have days when you feel down, if you spend days at a time feeling blue and are not motivated to do things you once enjoyed, you may want to see your doctor. Antidepressants may help you balance out your moods and allow you to enjoy life once again.

Episode 34 - ATS - Breaking the Stigma of Mental Health

Episode 34 - ATS - Breaking the Stigma of Mental Health

Today, the All the Stuff gals Jen Turrell, Financial Personal Trainer for Women, Lisa Carpenter, Transformational Life and Nutrition Coach, and Lisa Sharp, Empowerment Coach and Clutter Expert, share their thoughts on mental health, and the ongoing stigma that keeps many from sharing their stories.

In the entrepreneurial world, there is a common stigma that in order to be successful you have to act like you have everything together.  Fact is, everyone struggles at certain times, some more than others, without exception.  Rather than being vulnerable and authentic, many entrepreneurs only show the successful side of themselves and their businesses, and deal with their issues in silence.  This keep them in a terrible loop of feeling ashamed, overwhelmed, and alone.  In fact, statistics show that among entrepreneurs, a staggering 30% suffer from depression.

Fact is, being open and honest about mental health issues with those that you trust, opens doors for fantastic conversations that remind us that we are never alone and it is not only OK, but cleansing to talk about it.  And hearing (or speaking) the words “me too” can create strong connections that brings people closer together.

Ep 5 shame

Jen. I love your new podcast. I love what you talk about. I love 'Take Back The Night' and what it did for your family. It is absolutely right what you are doing and what you have said.

If Take Back The Night helped you, you are just passing on that information to help someone else. But what feels fantastic about it is you also look so good now, so healthy, so well adjusted, so powerful such an expert surrounded by other experts.

That is a win win situation. If you were just a broken mess crying on you tube what would be the point we can all be in that shame and humiliation and guilt. But to have got through enough to have a podcast with a name and clean blonde hair and friends that understand and get you, and that you understand them too means you have reclaimed yourself bit by bit whether it took from 5 to 40.

And if you can do it, people listening can do it too.

I think your podcast and your Lisa co-hosts are wonderful and much needed in the ocean of entrepreneurship. And although counterintuitive I want to hear more like this.

Because I personally want those who feel they can't start a business because of a bad start up in life, or shame, that they can break though and they can end up as powerful as you three, but still as human, with gladiators by their side to to help them fight off Shame and Limitations.

A deeper look at why we're obsessed with 'stuff'

I love this funny, honest and thought-provoking podcast on the why behind all of our stuff - why we have so much clutter, why money management is a struggle and why it's hard to make the healthy choices. I suspect that a lot of people struggle with these three areas, and Lisa, Lisa and Jen tackle the deeper reasons behind it for long-term change - and the processes to deal with it. It's like chatting to your friends who have their stuff together, and coming away feeling inspired.
