There are so many other reviews that list all the many things that make ATWWD so great but something that stands out for me is the way they tell their stories with such obvious and genuine compassion for the people involved. They still manage to find the humour in otherwise dark tales but never at the expense of victims. I love true crime but the way that some of the other popular podcasters in this genre talk (and joke) about it really gives me the ick! I’ve been trying and failing to find another podcast along these lines but no one does it quite like Em and Christine. Keep being awesome… and do a UK tour soon pretty please?
Pronoun obsession and vocal fry
3 Jan
I enjoyed the listener stories but the presenters banging on about “let’s normalise the use or pronouns” and ‘Hun’ vocal fry is so annoying. They actually read the pronouns of participants even when they used female names. Pointless.
This took me a while… sorry for looong review

I came here from creeps & crimes and I’m sorry I’m late to the party. I’m 39 and mum to an 18 year old girl Maia and 5 year old beagle. My daughter has adhd and autism & I’m waiting for my adult diagnosis of adhd and I need to point out that how I didn’t know is the real mystery. Maybe that’s an idea for Em’s story. The mystery of how eilish didn’t know she was ‘special’ and it can add in Maia’s disco ball brain theory of neuro science. Christine’s crime story could then be about all my ex boyfriends and my criminal choices in men (lovely husband now) anyway to review myself which I seem to be doing right but I wanted you to know a bit about me. I have a fun fact about your episode about miners, pits and haunted mines. My uncle was the last miner to die in Britain just right before his 50th. He was my mums twin brother. So maybe not a fun fact but we are proud. I live In Scotland been to Loch Ness, I live near an abandoned asylum called Hartwood where I love to walk and feel at peace and this could also be an interesting story for an episode. Anyway I give myself 5 stars haha. So onto review, I discovered podcasts after a developing ptsd and having to go off work for a bit. I tend to walk the dog quite a bit and it was a change from music. I love folklore and true crime and having two stories in one episode stops me getting too bored. I think I like sharing of snippets about you both and I like the way a story is told by you both. I don’t mind the adverts and I’m delighted I have so many epidsodes to binge. I laugh along with you and I’ve just been chuckling at the queen constanople thing. Anyway sorry again for reviewing myself
Binge listen

Came this way from Sinisterhood who are my original ride or die. Love Em and Christine’s banter and openness in talking about their mental health and chronic illnesses
