Suffering Produces Perseverance: My Chest, Breast, & All the Rest (Details!) Part 2

It’s been a long first season, and time to wrap it up! In this two-part Season 1: Finale, I detail the serious health issues and hospitalizations that have been plaguing my lungs and breast and mental toughness over the last 8 weeks. It’s been a wild and painful ride, and I’m ready to share my story and explain what might be next for me physically and mentally. Now facing a medical separation, what’s next? What’s really going on with my health? Am I crazy? Ya’ll have been asking, and I’m ready to tell all and I’m not too short of breath doing it. Note: again this is a two part story, make sure to listen to Part 1 first!

My 3rd Pneumothorax: Peg Loves Doctors

My 3rd Pneumothorax: Peg Loves Doctors

Mamas really are the best! At least mine is. After six days at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Fort Campbell, special guest “Peg” (my mother) helps share a little bit of the lighter sides of my third episode of a collapsed lung and post op shenanigans. From helping me when I choked on bacon, and then a green bean, to exercising her flirting muscle… and making sure she was all caught up on the Googling of my surgeon… Peg tells all. And she is an absolute hoot.

Army COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate: Why The GOMOR?

Army COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate: Why The GOMOR?

I’ve been on Active Duty as a 68W Army Combat Medic of 9 years and tweeted my opinion about FRAGO 5, which triggered an outcry from military members across Twitter. The use of a GOMOR seemed redundant to me for those who refused the vaccine. But who TF am I to share my opinion? If I tweeted support for it, it would have been no problem, and probably liked and retweeted. Instead, I was basically told to shut up. I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion. Alright. So anyway, in the episode you might learn a thing or two about the history of vaccines, like their predecessor (inoculation), and how immunizing troops against life threatening diseases has played a major role in Force Health Protection in every single American conflict including the American Revolution. Woah there I said “Revolution”, something I’ve also been warned against. Some thoughts and opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the United States, the Army, or my unit.

The “Woke” Thing is Getting Really Old

August was a lot for a lot of us. The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is tomorrow- and I’m so tired of the term, “woke”. https://jmvfh.utpjournals.press/doi/full/10.3138/jmvfh-2020-0006.
