Interesting and fun listen
I find this podcast really lovely to listen to and enjoy hearing about different peoples experiences but I think it’s very important to acknowledge that everybody speaking is coming from an incredibly privileged background, and the experiences discussed might not be 100% relevant to those people with less privileged backgrounds. Appreciate it is difficult to find guests from ‘regular’ backgrounds but I think for example with the most recent episode with Tara Carr discussing paying for IVF and eventual surrogacy in the US- I feel that this will alienate some people as it is simply not an option for most due to the cost. As this podcast is produced by the Pink Protest who are brilliant I am surprised there hasn’t been an effort to make it more accessible but this is perhaps something to consider with future episodes. Even just a comment to acknowledge awareness of the fact when discussing these sorts of ideas would be so helpful I think!!
Matilda Sturbridge
I listened to this podcast and thought gosh that’s a lot to go through, but then I lost patience. How many people have the money to undertake all of that activity in order to have a baby, very very few, so it’s not really indicative of a struggle. Does greed pay a part in this? I’m not sure. Having had two miscarriages, I could relate in part to some of the things that were said, and I appreciate the cheery optimism of the podcast. Although I am very happy that all of the activity ended in a happy result, this would not happen without immense privilege and that was not acknowledged, so it doesn’t seem real.
Needs more variation
