Episode 49 | Emotional Intelligence - what is it and why it matters‪?‬ Lead To Succeed

    • Management

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is more highly valued by employers than IQ.  We explore what it is and why it's such an important leadership trait.
Callum and I shine a spotlight on emotional intelligence. We discuss what it is and its role in leadership. We review the various aspects of EQ, what it entails and how leaders can exhibit this highly valued trait in order to have positive working relationships, greater returns for the business and lead to higher levels of motivation and happiness in the workplace.
According to Daniel Goleman in his book - Emotional Intelligence, EQ can be learnt whereas our level of IQ remains constant throughout life. So with self-awareness we can increase our quotient of EQ and become empathetic, be better able to manage our emotions, be self-reflecting and as a result create strong relationships and be able to effectively resolve conflict.
We share our own examples of emotional intelligence and its impact at work.
