Hello, fellow Marxists! Welcome to the final episode of Full Marx. This week we basically turned the show over to our listeners and let them decide what we would talk about this week. Lots of people wanted us to cover the brothers’ post-Marx Brothers career so we talked about that and some of their late career appearances. We also talked about some of our favourite movie moments and our general thoughts about the Marx Brothers amazing achievements and career.

Finally, thanks to all our listeners for their kind words and active participation during this series. We’ve appreciated all your comments and suggestions. You made doing this a lot of fun so thanks!

    And thanks for listening.

Other answer: Not a very satisfying one! But David and Ian still have some opinions about it and you should really give them a listen.

    Thanks for listening.

This week Ian and Dave watch and discuss the Marx Brothers’ final MGM film The Big Store. We won’t bother to pretend that there is a possibility that Ian or Dave may have actually thought this was a great or even a good movie; they didn’t. It’s a so-so movie and here’s why…

We really enjoyed Virginia O’Brien’s appearance in the film. Here is a couple of  fun appearances by her:

A hugely enjoyable visit to the world of the Marx Brothers

David and Ian take you on a delightfully entertaining and informative journey to the on and off screen world of the Marx brothers.
The background context, curious asides and overall humorous reviews of each of the films are a joy to listen to.
David, Ian and the occasional sirens are excellent company. I only wish the shows were longer.

Essential listening for fans of classic comedy

Full Marx is another informative and highly entertaining podcast from the Sneaky Dragon team. As in their other spin-off shows, Completely Beatles and Totally Tintin, David Dedrick and Ian Boothby have chosen a chronological approach. Each episode focuses on a single movie - delving into its making and historical and biographical context with a great deal of knowledge, and insights into the Marxes and the world of comedy more widely. It’s a simple and very effective format. Both presenters clearly love the Marxes, but they’re not uncritical, and their own humour sets a perfect tone for a show that is often very funny. Highly recommended.
