Is wild harvested beauty sustainable?
Wild harvesting may sound an idyllic way to source natural cosmetic ingredients and is certainly a beauty marketer's dream. But is wild harvesting as sustainable as it sounds? The beauty industry is avoiding the elephant in the room
In this opinion short, Formula Botanica CEO Lorraine Dallmeier asks if the beauty industry is hiding behind terms like 'waterless beauty' to avoid the very real, fundamental challenges of sustainability. By latching on to trending marketing concepts, the beauty industry is avoiding the elephant in the room: its own unsustainable model of rampant economic growth built on finite resources. Listen in to see how you can be a voice of change and integrity, making the beauty industry better and more sustainable.
Waterless beauty: marketing hype or sustainability hero?
Waterless beauty is on everyone's lips these days as waterless cosmetics are being touted as a key pillar of beauty's drive for sustainability. But, as with most beauty industry buzzwords, the term waterless may be just another case of greenwashing. Formula Botanica CEO and podcast host Lorraine Dallmeier is joined by colleague Ana Green to unpack the waterless beauty trend. Listen in for a reality check on waterless beauty. Can waterless stand scrutiny or it is just more marketing hype?
The beauty industry has a problem with transparency
Formula Botanica CEO and podcast host Lorraine Dallmeier shares her opinions on the episode interviewing Provenance, a software solution helping brands verify claims and communicate with transparency. Eradicating greenwashing requires us to ask beauty brands about their commitment to recycling, waste, the climate, their social footprint and about far more than ingredients. Lorraine challenges us to think about what is important to us in the beauty we buy. Listen in for a thought-provoking five minutes.
Can the beauty industry ever be transparent?
How do consumers verify the truth of a beauty brand's sustainability claims? When they say that their packaging is made of recycled materials or that they have offset their last year’s carbon emissions, how do we know it's true? One ambitious entrepreneur is on a mission to ensure we can hold brands to account. Formula Botanica CEO Lorraine Dallmeier talks to Jessi Baker, MBE, founder and CEO of Provenance, a software solution verifying sustainability claims to help empower us to make sustainable choices
