    Series 11 - Episode 6: Ashley Chambers

    Series 11 - Episode 6: Ashley Chambers

Very few footballers are able to say that they made their debut in the professional game aged just 15 years old but Ashley Chambers did just that when he played for Leicester City in a league cup tie. He also played for England at various youth levels but needed to leave Leicester in search of regular first team football. York City and Gary Mills provided that and the rest, as they say, is history. Ashley is cemented in York city folklore due to his massive part in the 2012 Wembley double success. Here Ashley looks back on that time at Bootham Crescent as well as his whole career in football.

TO YCFC ,

Best YCFC podcast out there

Sorry Same Old City, but this is king of the wide world of YCFC podcasts.

Dan’s interview style is relaxed yet enthusiastic which gets open, honest, insightful and entertaining interviews from guests. Interviews help me relive the nostalgia of the (rare) good times, and shed light on things I did not know about the bad times.

Heroes of yesteryear

Sample the highs and lows of what being a YCFC supporter means by tuning into Dan’s excellent interviews with former players, staff and supporters.

Following a lower league team like York is so much more than football, it’s about shared experiences with friends, and Dan brings those memories we built on the terraces watching our heroes back to life in a series of evocative episodes.

You can almost smell the cigar smoke and bovril wafting across your nostrils on the Shippo once again!

Brilliant work Dan. Thank you

An insightful trip down memory lane….

This podcast evokes so many emotions: happy childhood memories, nostalgia to better times, joy that your on pitch heroes are such great blokes, the hope that one day York City can sample similar success. All the ex players come across so well, no doubt as they are great people but in no small part to Dan’s interview style. He allows them to speak, making it more conversational with occasional questions and interjections. Often the guests pre-empt Dan’s questions because of the way the conversation is steered. To me this is the sign of a great podcast. You can tell the guests thoroughly enjoy the experience through the warmth of their voice and the detail they go into. It’s a must listen podcast for all York City fans but as the pod explores all aspects of the guests careers it is relevant to the wider football community. Keep up the great work Dan!
