In this podcast we share our passion for yarn, textile arts and heritage crafts. Our Social Enterprise formed because we know these are good for our mental health, so we talk about mental health too.
100% of any profits we make go towards our social purpose of improving mental health and well-being and reducing social isolation. We do this by providing engaging, high quality yarn and textiles art courses.
We are based in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. We firmly believe that heritage yarn and textiles skills are there for everyone to enjoy regardless of age, gender, race or disability.

Episode 2: That tricky second episode
So a week late but hey life got in the way! Join us for a round up of our month. We also chat to Aimée Palmer our Trainee Textile Artist about her role and her experience in all things textiles including helping to embroider the Game of Thrones tapestry.
We also have a round up of what projects were busy working on and a natter about what is new in the shop! -
Episode 1: Let's Yarn about Mental Health!
In this episode I look at what Inspiring Yarns is. I delve into how we have used our passion for yarn-based crafts to establish a social enterprise working towards helping others to improve their mental health and well-being through crafts.
I take a look at some events coming up across Northern Ireland in September such as our retreat to the Giants Causeway and also Spinning Yarns Festival and we have a quick shout out to some other folk we have worked with along the way to develop what we do! -
Coming Soon…. Inspiring Yarns
We’re currently working on bringing you a podcast every 3 weeks, an Inspiring Yarn if you like! We are all yarn obsessed here at Inspiring Yarns and we know first hand the many benefits it has for improving our own mental health and wellbeing so we want to share that with you over some meandering Inspiring Yarns of a different kind! In our first episode we’ll delve into what we do as a social enterprise, why we do what we do, and how we do things! We’ll also dabble into current and future plans for crochet, knitting, embroidery, cross-stitch, punch needle, weaving, spinning or any other yarn involving project that takes our fancy.
