This was a great episode on how use gardening to stay fit and how to garden safely. Particularly liked the tip about mixing up the activities rather than staying stuck in one position for too long. Obvious but good to have it pointed out. Agree with others about the really irritating ads.
Gardening through grief episode
Such a wonderful episode. I too retreated to my garden after my daughter died. I loved the eloquent way in which the subject was discussed. The quote that stands out for me is ‘I garden to engage the body and not the mind’ and it’s absolutely true.
contradiction all over the place.

Really struggled with this podcast sadly. Irritating adverts, pompous people who are interviewed, all doom and gloom about climate change. Contradictions all over the place. Just want to hear about different aspects of gardening as it was in the beginning. Season 4 ‘Greener Gardening’ is just miserable. It’s a real shame as it started off well (apart from Monty’s ramblings) Alan Titchmarsh interviews are really good, and he gives good information and just seems a good bloke. This podcast had so much potential but really let down, I will be looking for another podcast to listen to.
Houseplant concerns
01/09/2023
There were some really good tips in the houseplant edition, but why was the potential ecological impact of the plant or its growing medium not even touched on? Also, and I grant you this might be seen as more ‘out there’, might there be a case to argue that plants are generally ‘happier’ when they can share the ground, container or pot they’re in with other plants and organisms (though maybe not mealy bugs!)? Similarly, how might the absence of a gentle breeze affect the ‘mental health’ of a houseplant? I would love to discover more about such our - I hope - growing awareness of plant sentience.
