Judy Bogen - Place2Heal - Creating a healing space that encourages wellness over illness The Only Way Is Up

    • Arts

Judy Bogen made Aliyah to Israel from England and settled in Israel, raised three children and enjoyed a career including marketing, human resources and office management and
administration. In 2008, she and her family went on shlichut to the United States, where she was diagnosed with stage 1/ grade 3 breast cancer. She underwent surgeries and treatments till the summer of 2009.

When she returned to Israel in 2011, she continued her follow up. The health care she receives here is excellent and the staff, very professional. However, the outpatient centers are not comfortable and healing spaces. They do not give the patient the stress-free environment necessary when living through cancer treatment. And, so she took on a different kind of Shlichut. After studying the connection between one emotional and mental state and physical conditions, she established Place2Heal in 2016.

It is a nonprofit organization which focuses on raising funds for renovating and redesigning Cancer Day Care Units in Israeli hospitals. 'I wanted to bring about a change in cancer day care units, to help oncology patients in Israel” she explains.'The professional treatment in Israel is excellent, but the physical environment leaves more to be desired.'
