Podcast 24 - LGBTQ+ Dating and Myth Busting - with Kenny Ethan Jones and Jamie Windust

Podcast 24 - LGBTQ+ Dating and Myth Busting - with Kenny Ethan Jones and Jamie Windust

In this episode Lala is joined by magazine editor, model and non-binary activist Jamie Windust and trans activist and model Kenny Ethan jones.
In this podcast we answer question's sent in by followers around LGBTQ+ dating and relationship issues including:

I really want to understand the difference between non-binary and gender neutral and how to refer to non-binary people in language that isn’t genderised.

My gay friend doesn’t date bi-sexual people but he was offended when I said that I wouldn’t want to date a bisexual man, can we discuss this?

How do you navigate being out and proud with relationships when living in a ghetto area where hate crime is more likely?

How can I support my best friend who has transitioned but who has changed their personality so much that I barely recognise their personality and I don’t get them anymore. They are not the person I made friends with but I feel like if I raise it it’ll be seen as being related to their transition?

Is it harder for someone who has had gender reassignment surgery to orgasm?

Why do LGBTQ relationships move so much faster than cis het relationships?

Do you think it’s essential to disclose that you are trans to people who you are dating?

My son is in secondary school and he has come out to me as gay, I want to encourage him to live his best proud life but I also don’t want him to become a target for bullying. Is it oppressive if I suggest that he doesn’t tell his school friends yet?

We Can't Consent To This - Trigger warning for discussion of rape and murder

We Can't Consent To This - Trigger warning for discussion of rape and murder

In this podcast Lala is joined by Eve from the We Can't Consent To This campaign @wecantconsentto.

They are campaigning for the law to be changed so that the rough sex defence can no longer be used to get lighter sentences when women are murdered and seriously harmed. They are also campaigning for choking. spitting and hurting women during sex to not be normalised in popular culture.

This podcast includes graphic discussion about rough sex, murder and rape, but we also hope that it is an empowering conversation that will help women to feel more confident about expressing their needs in the bedroom and that will also inspire listeners to fight for change.

Podcast 19 - A Workplace Harassment Special with specialist Lawyer Deeba syed

Podcast 19 - A Workplace Harassment Special with specialist Lawyer Deeba syed

In this episode Lala is joined by sexual harassment lawyer Deeba Syed from The Rights Of Women to discuss sexual harassment in the workplace. We answer questions from followers including:

Can you report bullying/non-sexual harassment years after you have left the job?

My boss has made several comments about me probably getting pregnant in the future during meetings. I feel uncomfortable with this. Do I have the right to be?

My senior boss at work said that my Insta posts were too saucy and that men will start assuming that on my days off I get up to a certain kind of thing and that I should avoid bikini pics . What could I have done in this situation? I didn’t report it as I was scared of repercussions.

What can you do if it’s a co-worker but if it’s outside of work?

What do you do if there is no HR department at work?

One guy from work gets handsy (arm around back or hand on knee) with females at the Christmas party every year. Everyone knows about it and even warn newer female employees to watch out for him but no one will do a single thing to stop him or even speak on his behaviour. He has never touched me or actually assaulted anyone else but is there anything I can do to make it stop?

Is it sexual harassment if someone asks you out at work?

My manager is a narcissist and now someone is leaving because of him. How do I deal with him?

What is your advice to people who don’t think that they will be believed?

I work in a male dominated environment – they have never been directly nasty with me but I hear the way that they speak about other women. They will talk about women they have slept with in really nasty ways and they often make sexualised comments about female customers. Do I have the right to say something even if it’s not directed at me?

How do you deal with little ‘banter’ comments. For example – my manager spilt a bit of water on my foot and said ‘Sorry did I get you wet?” I knew what he meant but I know that if I had complained he would have been able to justify it because technically he did get me wet. How do we deal with things like that?

Well it’s been said on a blog via google this lady does not actually have qualifications. She blocks people who don’t agree with her and is rude.

Excellent

Straightforward. Layla can articulate an issue in a way that makes it easier to understand a complicated yet subtle difference of opinion. A real feminist
