    Loremen S4 Ep22 - The Ruskington Horror

As a special treat for our 150th episode, we only went and did a LIVE STREAM! It was quite the ride. Alasdair was ever-so tired, poor lamb. (Watch the whole thing here https://youtu.be/WEeaSbYjhUw)

Despite the fatigue, Alasdair managed to frighten James with a celebrity* endorsed ghost story from the featureless fens of Lincolnshire.

*Sure, it's Richard Madeley, but it still counts. He is on the telly.

    Loremen S4 Ep21 - Dickie's Screaming Skull LIVE

    Loremen S4 Ep21 - Dickie's Screaming Skull LIVE

Do you remember Halloween? It wasn't ages ago! This year, James and Alasdair commemorated old Samhain with a super-spooky livestream. Sorry, liveSCREAM.

James tells Alasdair the story of Dickie - the Screaming Skull of Tunsted Farm. It is a tale as old as time: a human skull that, if removed from a house, causes all sorts of trouble. But that's just the beginning of this Derbyshire legend. We also meet some of the largest nots you've ever heard of. You might even call them Hugenots.

Loremen S4 Ep20 - Do Go On UK Tour

Loremen S4 Ep20 - Do Go On UK Tour

Well, it's something a little different this week! Matt Stewart and Dave Warneke of Do Go On join James for a whistle stop tour of British folklore.

These hilarious Australian podcasters are embarking on their own UK tour (dates are here: dogoonpod.com/live-shows) and James kindly shares the snippets of folklore, history and Telly Savalas trivia that every visitor simply must know.

Our very own James is actually going to be joining Matt for a live recording of Who Knew It with Matt Stewart in Bristol on the 17th November. "Come along! It should be a real fun time." - James Shakeshaft, 2022.

    Loremen S4 Ep19 - The Coach Ghost

    Loremen S4 Ep19 - The Coach Ghost

Another Halloween spooker! This week, Alasdair unfolds a tale from the Great North Road, or thereabouts. This yarn has everything: highwaymen, road ghosts, the director Peter Jackson and accents. At least two accents.

Loremen S4 Ep 18 - The Exmouth Summoning

Loremen S4 Ep 18 - The Exmouth Summoning

    "The boatman awaits..."

As 90s soul sensation Gabrielle once sang, dreams CAN come true. She also sang, "look at me babe I'm with you," but that is less relevant to this story.

This episode's legend comes from James's Spooky Book Of The Month, Haunted England by Christina Hole. It's a tale of premonition and a kind of spooky justice...

Quoz!

Wonderful, hilarious, chronically underrated. Genuinely my favourite podcast. Enjoy the frequent guest appearances from actual David Bowie and Harry H. Corbett.

P.S. Shakeshaft is a straight-up DILF. All about them field reports.

The sea, the sea!

And other such memorable catchphrases are rife amongst the anecdotal ramblings of James and Alasdair. Having binge listened to the entire back catalogue over the past three weeks, I can’t hear anything in my head except the wonderfully tuneful theme tune, and can’t speak to anyone without subconsciously eating their name out of 5. Without doubt this is a laugh out loud and enjoyable journey into the world of folklore. Yes, it’s a 5 from me.
