On this episode of Mehmooni, I speak with the artist @Arghavan_Khosravi

Khosravi earned an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design after completing the studio art program at Brandeis University. Khosravi previously earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Tehran Azad University and an MFA in Illustration from the University of Tehran. Khosravi has participated in numerous group exhibitions, at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Yinchuan, China; Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI; and Provincetown Art Association and Museum, MA; among others.

Khosravi’s residencies include the Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA; the Studios at MassMoCA, North Adams, MA; Monson Arts, Monson, ME; and Residency Unlimited, Brooklyn, NY.

Khosravi is a 2019 recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation’s Painters & Sculptors Grant and a 2017-8 recipient of the Walter Feldman Fellowship. The artist’s work belongs to the collections of the Newport Art Museum and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.

@Rugriders is a young rug brand that is making waves in the traditional rug market. They admire the cultural heritage and importance of the carpet craft.

Aria and Bardia are brothers with parents from Teheran and Tabriz. Both studied business in Europe and started working in finance and online marketing.

Now the brothers decided to continue the family business. They didn‘t just continue but rather took it to a whole other level - (they call it the rug business 2.0) by giving rugs a second life.

Dana Haqjoo @danahaqjoo is a British-Iranian actor. He is very much the product of dual cultures; possibly one of the reasons why he has dual careers. Dana is both an actor and an architect; managing time between two very different paths.

He initially trained in architecture and after practicing for several years, he decided to pursue an acting career. Something he had always been passionate about. Dana is now working primarily in TV and film as an actor while balancing his other role as the director of a successful London based architectural practice. On this episode we talk about his role in the play The Boy with Two Hearts @thecentre_yganolfan as well as some of the exciting upcoming projects Dana is working on; including his role on #Hapless on @Netflixuk .

Piers is a former journalist and now director of Susa Comms, a PR and communications business. London-based Piers was born in Tehran and has worked with leading food brands across the UK for 20 years.

He is the founder of the @PersianHospitalityNetwork. Having seen how other communities come together to support one another Piers set up PHN to celebrate and profile Persian people and brands working across the UK's food and hospitality sector. It is a non-commercial and not-for-profit organisation.

Somayeh (@so___mii) is an Iranian born director, editor and photographer. Her work combines her eye for the cinematic moment with her interest in emotive narratives with sound design featuring prominently in her work, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

Her personal history is often layered into her work, sometimes raw, often poetic. The story of her own heritage and self-identity often becomes interlaced with her subject matter to produce an intimate yet surreal language on-screen. Somayeh is represented by RSA film.
