A podcast about materials, the making instinct and a craft-full life

Episode 33: Still making & musing

Episode 33: Still making & musing

In Episode 33 I return after a long break. I talk about some of the reasons I've "been away" and touch upon some unexpected twists, turns and materials that have been keeping me busy. I also delve into a couple of practical projects I've recently been working on: a capacious handbag and a garden project.

    Episode 32: Tending

    Episode 32: Tending

In Episode 32 I mull over some of the blockages involved in re-fitting garments, review how a wool suitable for lightweight garments is wearing and talk about an outsourced repair which brought me a disproportionate degree of delight.
I also get excited about some wriggly helpers I welcomed into our household to help tend our soil and share how I made some antihistamine salve sticks from a common 'weed'.

    Episode 31: Big projects & in-between making

In Episode 31 I share a couple of big projects that have been keeping me busy: a winter coat and a job in the garden. I also talk about a handful of in-between makes, from ones relying on tried and tested patterns, materials and techniques to a new kind of tool making.

    Episode 30: A review & looking forward

    Episode 30: A review & looking forward

In Episode 30 I pop in for a bit of a chat about the year. I review some of the themes in my knitting and sewing this year and ponder what 2022 may hold in. I also reflect on some of the things have not gone so well and how I've been getting proactive to mitigate some challenges.

Favourite.

This is my favourite podcast! If you’re a quiet, thoughtful introvert you’ll see what I mean. It feels like the antidote to all the loud, brash, me-first content in the digital world - just a deep calm focus on making skills and why they matter. I love everything about it apart from the fact it’s not published often enough for me!

Quiet, thoughtful and well written. Packed with interesting stuff

I love this podcast! If you are someone who likes to make things and likes to think about the deep questions of why making is important there will be much to savour here. And I use the word savour on purpose. Mrs M has a very pleasant and peaceful way of speaking and her content is always extremely thoughtful and interesting. There is a lot about wool but other materials for making are also covered. Sustainability, creativity, and materiality are her themes and she is a great writer and speaker.
