    043 Talking About Lying

    043 Talking About Lying

In this episode Greg and Adam discuss lying, deceit, and dishonesty but not in the way you may first think. They discuss how our body can often lie to us, telling us it's stiff, weak, out of place, or damaged when it's not.

They try to work out why and when it does this and how we can tell when we are being lied to or not by our own body.

040 Talking Coronavirus, Manipulations, and Online Consultations

    ***WARNING: Explicit content***

This episode on cervical manipulation was recorded a few weeks before the current coronavirus pandemic really took hold of the world, and so it seems irrelevant now, but Adam and Greg do mention some tips and ideas on how to still work as a therapist at a responsible and ethical clinician using online resources.

However, if you want a few minutes escape from all the virus talk, there is 20 minutes of discussion on the risks and benefits of cervical manipulations.

Stay safe, stay physically distance, and look after each other!

038 Talking About Spinal Flexion When Lifting

038 Talking About Spinal Flexion When Lifting

In this episode Greg and Adam discuss an always controversial topic: Bending when lifting. Should we keep our backs straight when picking things up? Is is ok to allow the spine to flex when bending forward? In this episode they discuss a recent systematic review published in JOSPT (https://www.jospt.org/doi/abs/10.2519/jospt.2020.9218) that questions some commonly held, deeply entrenched beliefs about lifting with a bent spine. As usual be prepared for some strong views, opinions and of course some language.

Great Resource

Appreciate the work both Adam and Greg put in to both be critical and inform our profession in their own time. Has taught me to be critical of my own bias (however much I just want everyone to deadlift and squat!) and to delve deeper than just the abstract and conclusion. Keep it up guys!

Essential listening for patients!

As a patient with 2 “failed” back surgeries & chronic pain this podcast has been fantastic in educating myself on current thinking, affirming my thoughts/experiences & keeping a sense of humour.
Altho I don’t understand a lot of the tech jargon, the style of blunt discussion, humour & simple analogies help.
I appreciate the emphasis on debate & questioning of trials/evidence/experiences. I feel more empowered as a patient to question approaches (or my bugbear - reject suggestions from well meaning people based on an experience of 1 person with a completely different/unknown injury!).

Challenge your thinking

Excellent guests and Adam is definately not afraid to ask difficult questions. He represents his own views passionately and he really makes you question how you think and how you practice. Not for the faint hearted but I wouldn't miss an episode!
