Notts What I'm Talking About with Notts Bad Movie Club

Notts What I'm Talking About with Notts Bad Movie Club

In this week's episode, we are chatting with Will, Chris, and Gareth, the folks behind the Notts Bad Movie Club. Launched last year the NBMC hosts double-screenings of some of the "best" bad movies at Annie's Burger Shack, allowing people to enjoy these historically much-maligned movies among a group of other like-minded folks.

These screenings have included the likes of Streetfighter, Mortal Kombat, Mac & Me, and Anaconda, and have even seen exclusive video messages from some of the people involved in these films - both in front of and behind the camera. Such has been the success of the event that they are now launching a Notts GOOD Movie Club to celebrate some true classics - kicking off with a double screening of South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut, and Basketball.

We find out how the club started, what constitutes a "bad movie", and the plans moving forward for his fun event.

This was a fun chat and a definite listen for fellow bad movie lovers.

You can find out more about what Notts Bad Movie Club has going on by checking them out on Facebook

Notts What I'm Talking About with Liv Marshall

Notts What I'm Talking About with Liv Marshall

Notts What I'm Talking About returns for its FIFTIETH episode as we kick off a brand new series of the show, in this first episode we chat to young climate change activist Liv Marshall who tells us about how she got started in climate activism, her recent visit to parliament to present a bill on teaching climate change in schools, the importance of the fight and about her recent open letter in Left Lion encouraging people to try and stay positive despite how bleak things may look.

This is a fascinating and inspiring conversation and a reminder of how the youth are leading the fight to tackle climate change - and just how important that fight is for not only their generation but indeed for all.

Liv has recently launched a Fridays for the Future, a weekly gathering in the Market Square at 4pm every Friday, to raise awareness on the issue of climate change and remind the public - and council - that action is needed, this is a peaceful gathering and all are welcome.

You can check out Liv's fantastic open letter from January's LeftLion magazine here

Notts What I'm Talking About with Sigourney Beaver

Notts What I'm Talking About with Sigourney Beaver

*WARNING - This episode contains explicit language*

We're back and we have a special episode, for the first time we have a guest who is not from, or connected to, Nottingham, but is just visiting. It's episode 49 and we're chatting with Sigourney Beaver, star of Shudder TV's hugely popular drag competition Boulet Brothers Dragula. Describing herself as a "female impersonator impersonator" Sigourney was a finalist in season 4 of the hit show that takes drag competition to a whole new level with focus on the underground and alternative drag scene and with those at the bottom facing "extermination challenges" that test them both mentally and physically on the show.

Sigourney joined us to chat about how she got started in drag, her time on the show, the UK tour - which comes to Nottingham this month - and more, as well as answering a few fan questions, so tune in for a fun chat but be warned there is some pretty strong language used.

Boulet Brothers Dragula Season 4 UK Tour is coming to the Rescue Rooms on Saturday 26 March - for more information and tickets click here

For more on Sigourney Beaver you can check out her website or follow her on Twitter

Notts What I‘m Talking About with Rob.Green

Notts What I‘m Talking About with Rob.Green

In episode 48 of Notts What I'm Talking About we chat with singer Rob.Green in what was a very open and intimate chat. We go all the way back to Rob's Parlour Tricks EP launch show at Nottingham Contemporary in 2012 - where host Darren and Rob first met, through to his upcoming Bodega headline show in February.

Along the way Rob talks about how a conversation in the early hours of the morning in a converted church roof led to the release of one of his best loves tracks Blue, and how the recent lockdown led to Rob taking a deep look at his emotions and his work-life balance.

This is a fascinating conversation with Rob being extremely open and honest about his life and decisions.

You can find out more about Rob by visiting his official website here, tickets for his show at The Bodega on 18 February 2022 can be purchased here

Always enjoy listening to Tanya & The Nottingham Live Show. She’s got a lovely voice and the show itself is really informative splashed with Tanya’s great sense of humour. It’s a really entertaining way to find out what’s happening across Notts on a fortnightly basis. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
