Pornography, Sex, and Subterfuge (with Dr Elly Hanson‪)‬ Awe in Trauma

    • Mental Health

Dr Elly Hanson is an exceptional Clinical Psychologist and influential thinker in the collective effort to reduce harm and injustice.  She has long been an expert in the field of abuse and trauma with a particular focus on sexual abuse and approaches to healthy and progressive relationships.  In this powerfully insightful episode we discuss online pornography, a subject that receives much attention yet so few intelligent, nuanced and meaningful discussions in the professional field.

Together we explore the rich and complex area of online pornography in relation to actors, viewers and the impact on the development of the sexual and relational self.  Dr Hanson's work includes the latest findings in research which she shares with such a richness and well balanced way that never seeks to pathologise but to understand what makes people tick in terms of their deepest and most private needs.  Here she introduces the listener to the all pervasive concepts of finite versus infinite play and how these are such insightful philosophical and spiritual concepts to guide all facets of human interaction.

This work is of central importance in the re-balancing of healthy relationships in ourselves, with our friends and loved ones, sexual partners, and also with professionals, organisations and policy makers.
