    3 Affirmations to change your day

    In the personal development field, affirmations are the bread and butter tool and rightly so. Affirmations, done over time, can not only hack our sub-conscious to believe those affirmations, they also help to re-wire the neural pathways in our brain through a process called neuroplasticity.

    Affirmations are phrases that are very positive. You say them to yourself each day, morning and night (and through the day too) to begin changing our sub-conscious mind. You see, our sub-conscious can’t differentiate between what’s real and what isn’t, that’s why we have such huge reactions when we totally get into a movie, our rational conscious mind is bypassed.

    One trick when you’re creating your affirmations is to say them in a process style rather than an ‘as it is’ style. For example, instead of saying “I am confident”, use “I am becoming more each day”. This helps bypass the part of your brain that questions. If you use “I am confident” your mind could reply to itself saying “Really???”, but the process way of wording the affirmations can help stop that and become much more effective.

    1: I am becoming more confident each day

    2: Today I choose to have a fantastic day

    3: I am fully in control of my emotions

    I don't know enough

    How many times have you told yourself "I don't know enough to do that"?

    How about "I'd love to do that but I just don't know enough"

    I've had these thoughts many times in my life.

    This is called "Imposter Syndrome", where you do something or are in a particular position, but you still don't feel you know enough and you MUST be an imposter for being there.

    So I've come up with 3 tips to help disrupt and break those "I don't know enough" thoughts.

    1: Look at what you already know and what you can already do

    2: Talk about it

    3: Study

    There’s a huge problem with this… tomorrow never comes.

    If you’ve heard of Mel Robbins, you’ve heard about her 5 second technique. She doesn’t count from 1 to 5, she counts from 5 to 1 because of 2 reasons:

    We’re used to taking action when the countdown gets to 1 or 0 (think rocket launches)

    If you counted up, you can get to 5 and your mind knows it can keep counting to 6, 7, 8 and not take action when needed.

    The same thing applies to “tomorrow”, we can get to the next day and STILL keep telling ourselves “tomorrow”

    If you want to raise your productivity, achievements and success, you need to stop saying “tomorrow” and instead, stating an actual day and date.

    When it comes to productivity and strengthening your mindset, we need to eliminate the word “tomorrow” when it comes to doing tasks.

    Stop wishing and start acting

    We all do it, sometimes often, sometimes not. We wish, wish our business was more successful, wish our podcast was magically published, whatever the wish is, we make a lot of em!

    How good are you at taking action and making those wishes happen?

    You have enough wishes collected, now it’s time to stop wishing and start acting!

    We wish we had this, we wish we’d done that. Those wasted wishes soon become moans, complaints and regrets and very quickly our time and energy get taken over by them instead of being focused on something productive that’s going to make those wishes a reality.

    We risk being overcome by procrastination. That’s something that can completely kill your forward momentum and success.

    You get productive, you set your goals.

    You set them for 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12 months and you feel great and you feel productive.

    But many times, the reality is disconnected from the plans.

    We waste time on social media instead of creating it.

    We watch video instead of making video.

    There’s a complete disconnect between your goals and what you fill your day with!

Superficial nonsense

The so called "personal development" industry is a crowded field of vaccuous tricksters, and this guy is one of the leaders. Lots of lovely soundbites, positive "messages" but next to nothing in the way of meaningful, actionable advice. And why would there be? If there was, you wouldn't keep coming back to these snake oil salesman offering the next miracle cure. Take a pass.

A quality, relaxing, advice filled treat

I am so pleased I found this Podcast. Its a nice length, so I can listen to it while getting ready in the bathroom to supercharge my day. The background music is chilled, and would also suit listening to in the bath.

Darren is passionate, funny, and clearly knowledgable.

Made me laugh in the first episode where I think he was referencing Dads Army.... "dooooomed".

Give is a go.
