    Empowering & Developing Youth

It really does take a village, so to speak. From character development, to confidence and self-esteem building, to academic achievement, every child needs some kind of mentor to help in nurturing their growth. Join our discussion with South African Grammy Award® winning composer and flautist, Wouter Kellerman, as he shares with us his passion for nurturing youth by his philanthropic involvement with SOS Children's Village in Ennerdale and Rustenberg, South Africa. From sponsoring 10 children for the last 18 years, to financing the building of a house, to the teaching of young music and dance students in South Africa, and simply spending time with the children, it is that day-to-day involvement that makes all the difference that every adult should adapt.

    Time: Past, Present & Future

    Time: Past, Present & Future

The human mind has a preoccupation with time; the progression of events contained in the three components of past, present, and future. Whether longing for “back in the day”, “live now”, or “I can’t wait for that to happen”, we each tend to be more oriented to one component over the other two by our simple, human default settings. Excess orientation to any of these can be detrimental to our lives.

We interpret time linearly with a finite beginning and end which can be terrifying for many reasons. However, there is another way to interpret time from a Buddhist perspective. It is time without beginning and time without end based on the law of cause and effect and the eternity of life. Don’t obsess about the past or long for the future. We are all works in progress so let’s all shoot for that balance, that “Middle Way.”

    Through the Eyes Of...

    Through the Eyes Of...

The 15th-century expression “children should be seen and not heard” is grossly outdated yet at times is still implemented when it is adults to which this relic phrase should apply. Children are human beings who have opinions and feelings, and can offer a great amount of insight into the world. After all, they are the future.

13-year-old, Los Angeles, California native, Wyatt, answers some very direct questions giving his views and opinions on how he sees the world not only as a “Gen-Z” guy but as a human being. He possesses the depth and wisdom of a Rhodes Scholar, and the understanding and compassion of someone far beyond his years. Through his eyes, you may just open yours a little bit wider.

    The Magic of Believing

    The Magic of Believing

Think back to when you were a child waiting for Santa Claus to come, or putting that lost tooth under your pillow knowing with certainty the Tooth Fairy would visit you leaving some kind of financial reward behind. That magical feeling is like no other. As we become adults, life gets in the way and we can slowly lose that feeling, that assuredness of believing in whatever is in front of us.

There are multitudes of benefits to believing in anything from spirituality, to kindness, to hope, and most importantly, yourself. Join us as we discuss some of the things in which people believe from childhood up to adulthood and the benefits that one receives as a result.

    Being an Artist

    Being an Artist

Being an artist is not a label, it is what one does. It is not a carefree, easy life devoid of responsibility. On the contrary. It is a high level of commitment to the work often accompanied with great sacrifice, uncertainty, doubt, and fear, yet do the work regardless. It is ceaseless dedication with the goal of creating works that move or inspire others. To the public eye it may seem glamorous however, it is 99% grind and 1% shine.

Based on excerpts from Art & Fear: Observations On the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles and Ted Orland, we asked three committed, working artists from different fields some very profound questions covering topics of fear, doubt, insecurity, and limitations, etc. Their responses may be quite surprising. To learn more about any of the artists, please see the information below:
