Great Oral Military History

First heard Striker on the Jack Carr podcast then looked out the SOG Cast. As a former British soldier it is fascinating to listen to the operations and the sadly the losses these teams took whilst operating in remote conditions with only air / aviation as support.

Keep up the Good Work

I’ve always been fascinated by small unit tactics and history so as a younger guy I joined up, took the queens shilling as they say.

Whilst in the UK forces I discovered reading whilst on down time in Afghanistan and developed a love of reading historical accounts of warfare and some fiction like Bernard Cornwells “Sharpe” series.

On my return from Afghanistan I decided to read some books about the 5th group in Nam and started with the black Jack books and mobile guerrilla force books.

Some how I stumbled across the “Studies and Observations Group”, (can’t quite remember how to many knocks to the head).

I was intrigued, firstly the camouflage and deception plan was great because I had no idea it was a cover name for the first real tier 1 special operations element in modern US military history.

This then lead me to my second discovery, a book By John Stryker Meyer “ACROSS THE FENCE” and the action and combat was mind blowing, then I was hooked.

I’ve since heavily read all of tilts books (excellent by the way) and Mr Plasters books currently reading Thom Nicholson’s book, if you like me enjoyed those books then these podcasts are definitely for you.

I would strongly recommend these podcasts and Jocko’s as they are absolutely fantastic, it’s great to know that the actions of these men are being immortalised and told by the guys who were on the ground and witnessed these feats of outstanding courage and honour.

I’d like to thank you for sharing these podcasts and Thank you for your service.

Truly some of the best accounts I’ve ever heard, what you and these guys did is mind blowing for me, as a combat veteran of Afghanistan I simply could not even begin to imagine these events transpiring.

Five stars, keep up the good work and let’s get these stories immortalised so everyone out there knows about the men who gave there all in the secret war.

“AIRBORNE”.

Awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Christmas has come early for me, thanks so much for putting this out John. Stories so crazy and amazing , you’ll think it’s fiction, but astonishingly it’s fact.
The secret war of SOG in Vietnam.
I’ve listened to John on the Jocko Podcast many times, and bought and listened to John’s audio book. If you’ve heard him already, you won’t be disappointed.
If you’re new, welcome, be patient the glossary will come (pick up John on the Jocko Podcast) and be prepared to be amazed at the heroics of these young men against all odds.
AWSOME !!!
