Tale of the Manticore is a hybrid between a dark fantasy audio drama and a solo D&D RPG. The dice make all the important decisions and, as a writer, my job is to interpret them and tell their story. Part fiction, part game, it’s the story where ”Chaos rolls.”

Tale of the Manticore
So upset that I’ve finally caught up. Historically I’ve avoided Actual Plays like the plague, but this is the fantasy podcast I didn’t know I needed. The tone, world you want to dive into and level of focus are all on point. Add in the loving production values and manageable episode length and what do you get? Well it should be pretty telling that this is the only work of fiction that’s ever made me tear up…
Dark and Dramatic!
Podcast status: 5 out of 5 Stars. A storyteller’s fertile imagination is supplemented by rattling dice rolls - even he does not know what is on the next page in this brilliant fantasy series akin to “The Black Company” novels by Glen Cook and accompanied by an atmospheric, minimalist soundtrack reminiscent of the music of John Carpenter. Lore has it that the tale of the Manticore is made of many thrilling twists and turns. There will be much entertainment in the days ahead…
