Benjamin Hardy: Break Free from Self-Limiting Beliefs

Benjamin Hardy: Break Free from Self-Limiting Beliefs

Dr. Benjamin Hardy is an organizational psychologist and bestselling author of Willpower Doesn't Work. His blog has been read by over 100 million people and has been featured on Forbes, Fortune, CNBC, Cheddar, Big Think and many others. When I first tuned in to his work he was the #1 writer on medium.com, where he developed a significant audience around his interests.
His new book, Personality Isn't Permanent, which we talk about today opens up a discussion around the popular misconception that the role of personality plays in our daily life and our future. The historical narrative that personality is fixed and it is something you "discover" is filled with fallacies, as Dr. Hardy's scientific approach to this book shows how daily intentions create our future selves.
    We also talk about:
Why personality tests don’t work (and can often reaffirm false narratives) What you can do to get out of beliefs around your "fixed" personality How to stop lingering on the past- whether it's a past success or a catastrophic failure Designing an identity to create your future self
Reframing trauma Can't wait for you to dig. Enjoy!

    My Daily Gratitude Practice

    My Daily Gratitude Practice

As you probably know, I’m a huge believer that so much of ‘THE GAME’ is mental. Stress, fear, anxiety, and our natural negativity bias is always ready beat us down. One of the most powerful tools in my toolbox to harness positivity in a seemingly tough situation is a daily gratitude practice.
As we head into Thanksgiving here in the states, in the middle of a pandemic and everything else, I wanted to dig into the archives and re-share my personal practice. In this episode I share the exact practice I use every morning to re-center my mindset. Join me if you're curious, and use it to jump start your own.
If you’d like to fast forward directly to my guided practice, skip to about 7 minutes into the episode.
    Enjoy!

Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results with James Clear

Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results with James Clear

James Clear is a writer, speaker and the bestselling author of one of my absolute favorite books, Atomic Habits. His work on decision-making, continuous improvement and personal development has been instrumental in my life, but it's his focus on habits that fires me up the most.

If you've read Creative Calling or listened to this show in the past, you've probably heard me describe the creative pyramid. On the bottom of that pyramid is mindset, and at the top are your goals. The thing that connects your mindset and your vision for what you want in life? That's your habits.

In this conversation James helps us focus on the power of habits to foster success, and more importantly, fulfillment.

If you are interested in these topics, James' 3-2-1 newsletter is a great way to get a weekly dose of wisdom to keep you on track and moving forward.

The Art of Less Doing with Ari Meisel

The Art of Less Doing with Ari Meisel

We all know that this world is fast paced. If you're like me, there's never enough time to do all the things you want. Naturally, the feeling of overwhelm creeps in, hindering our ability to operate as creatives and entrepreneurs.

But, when it comes to pursuing the things that we love in life, we have to create time for those things. My guest today, Ari Meisel, is a creator, speaker, coach, and the author of Less Doing More Living, a resource designed to help those of us who feel overwhelmed, become more effective.

Ari's teachings break down into three sections on today's show:
Self-tracking and the manual of you- basically how to run an audit. Structuring your creative self. I used to think that structure was a waste of time. And suddenly after 10 years, I realized that a little bit of structure around my creativity was the thing that unlocked it. How to take back time and begin moving towards our biggest goals. Half an hour with Ari today and a whole bunch of tactical information to help you hone your craft, your practice and your life. You might want to have a notepad for this one.
    Enjoy!

    Failing to Succeed

    Failing to Succeed

One of the most powerful understandings I've internalized over the past decade hosting this show is this: the world's top performers, entrepreneurs and creators often feel like they are imposters to their own lives. Operating at the edge of their ability and constantly failing forward comes with the challenge of overcoming self-doubt and imposter syndrome.

The good news? It's normal to doubt yourself. Even in areas where I consider myself highly proficient there are still moments in the unknown where I question whether I have what it takes to bring my vision into reality.

Remember, every creative effort contains the seeds of a future success. Just like going to the gym, the more you train your emotional and mental strengths to endure the feeling of uncomfortable self-doubt and failure, the more you will persist in pursuing your dreams.
    Enjoy!

Three cornerstones for success

🥰 Man!!!! I love the Chase man.
He’d be a guest at my table of favourite people in the planet.
Let’s just highlight a few things🤔.
: The guy has infinite energy and enthusiasm.
: Through struggle, highs, lows, he’s maintained his belief in himself.
He’s created an incredible life and platform that aids in helping so many people.
: He exudes a trust an presence that’s a flame to the curious and creative moth😅.
And I believe, just an all round inspiration.
His episode on the Three cornerstones to success. Is almost exactly what I was inelegantly trying to convey to my wife on why I need to pursue a life of art and creativity. I shall definitely be playing this to her tonight, and say... Yeah!! That’s what I mean🤣.
Love it Chase and crew. Keep up the Awesomeness!!!🙏
Kind regards The pondering_artisto

Creative Genius

I have been following Chase Jarvis for years - right back to the “the best camera is the one you have with me” days. He is consistently engaging and inspiring.

I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough, regardless of whether you are in a creative industry or not. I guarantee you will find at least one actionable insight in every episode and even if a particular interviewee doesn’t sound like your thing, Chase always makes it worth listening to.

A few years ago I was listening to a lot of different podcasts. Now it is down to just three or four but this is still there.

While I am here, might as well plug his fantastic book, Creative Calling which I finished in pretty much one sitting but am using the insights from every day.
