No Home Charging
In Episode 209 Gary chats with a number of people who live without home charging.
It's, obviously, easier if you can charge where you live. But that doesn't mean that not having a home charger makes EV ownership untenable.
We talk to people who find it easy, difficult, complex, good value, or expensive.
Is it expensive? How much is AC/ destination charging vs how much is rapid/ ultra rapid charging? Is it easier with a Tesla?

The Two Cars Episode
In this episode of EV Musings, Gary discusses the idea that households with off-street parking and two cars should consider making one of them electric. The conversation explores the case of households with two fossil fuel cars, addresses cost and range concerns, highlights the availability of small-sized EVs, and discusses the benefits of owning an EV. He also emphasizes the role of education and test drives in overcoming ignorance and misinformation about electric vehicles.
Takeaways
Households with off-street parking and two cars should consider making one of them electric.
Cost and range concerns can be addressed, especially with the availability of affordable second-hand EVs and a wide range of small-sized EVs.
Hybrids can be seen as a compromise, but if the goal is to go electric, it's better to choose a full electric vehicle.
Owning an EV opens up opportunities for low-priced EV charging tariffs and other benefits.
Education and test drives play a crucial role in changing perceptions and increasing EV uptake.
If you have 2 cars and off-street parking one of them could be an EV. I'll tell you why.

The Climate Scientist Episode
In Episode 205 Gary looks at climate in a fascinating conversation with Richard Allan- a climate scientist and academic. They discuss the difference between climate and weather, why carbon is so important despite being such a small part of the atmosphere, why some climate scientists disagree about global warming and we hear his thoughts on carbon offsets and geoengineering.
Ever wanted to ask a climate scientist the questions about climate that nobody is asking? I do that for you
Guest Details:
Richard Allan is a professor of Climate Science at the University of Reading Department of Meteorology. His research is driven by the fundamental question: how much will Earth warm in the current century and what are the implications for the global water cycle, upon which societies and ecosystems depend? He uses Earth Observation data to explore fluctuations in clouds, water vapour, rainfall and the Earth's radiative energy balance and use this information to assess the realism of climate prediction models and improve our understanding of the climate system. He was a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th assessment report.
