Welcome to the Good Juice! A live wine tasting where Tom and Jared invite you into a world of Australia's best micro wineries, explained in a laid-back nature where banter and knowledge about the magical grape juice collide.

We're back for the year and there was no one more fitting than Luke Bray who owns Cringila Cellars, in partnership with his father. Cringila Cellars rose to prominence last year boasting a monster beer selection during the Hazy Pandemic (where everyone who was stuck in isolation found beer other than Tooheys New). Not only does it have a fantastic selection of beer and anything else you may want or need, the place is operated by people who genuinely care and want to help you. We were stoked to have Luke on to discuss all things grape juice, beer, the hospo/booze industry and a bunch of other fun stuff. 

This week we tasted the Piccadilly Vineyards Blanc de Blanc, Landsdowne 2019 'Super happy' Chardonnay and the Leko 2019 Pinot Noir. All very different in their unique ways, we enjoyed aspects of these wines. Some of them blew us away and as always enjoyed each others company and stories immensely. In Episode 11 our guest is Gemma Halpin, the Manager of The Throsby in Wollongong,  a small wine bar in the gong. Gemma is super knowledgeable and always a pleasure to hang out with. In this episode we chatted about things like: China's anti dumping tariffs, how much Gemma loves Gamay and why, super interesting Turkish grapes and all things juice! This week we tasted the 2020 Golden Child 'Beach Bum' Rosé, 2020 Vinden Wines Gamay/Shiraz and 2020 Patch Wines 'Shed Red'. In Episode 10 our guest is Mitchell Bloomfield, the Manager of Breakout Bar in Wollongong, a series of well curated escape rooms and a just as well curated cocktail list. Mitch is a champion and had great chat when we discussed: what goes into an escape room, great ramen joints, Doctor B and a whole bunch of other banter and of course juice! This week we tasted the 2017 Architects of Wine Chardonnay, 2019 Moorak Grenache and Valle Du Venom's 2020 Syrah. This week we had the pleasure of having local dive bar, Black Cockatoo's Manager, Jacob Desposito in the bar! He's one of the legends of Wollongong hospitality and a true fan of booze. Despo, Jared and I chatted about all things orange wine, how covid is affecting local business, oxidation, Chenin Blanc,  sustainability and a little bit of beer as we taste: 2020 Valle Du Venom Chenin Blanc, 2019 Minimum Wines Red Blend and one of our new wineries Lansdowne Wine and their 2020 New Pinot, which is as epic as it sounds. Despo was a legend to have on the show, we've been getting feedback that the laidback nature of the podcast is appealing and this guy knows how to lay back - he also has a great palate. These wines were all cracking: I hope you learn something and have a laff, thanks for tuning in as always, we love doing this. Tune in to find out how good indeed the juice was!

Jared had a big week, so he slept through the episode, so it was just Tom and Tris having a wholesome chat about Italian food, how good Fiano is, independent winemakers, Tristrams' wine adventures and other non juice related things while we taste: 2019 Unico Zelo 'Jade and Jasper' Fiano, 2020 Frederick Stevenson 'Pinata' and the Tom Shobbrook 2020 Cabernet Franc. Our wine didn't make it to the studio, so we had to improvise using Wollongong's Best Bottlo, Crown West Cellars for our wine this week. It was banging, take a listen to find out just how banging! Thanks to Tristram for his time, he's an absolute legend and a bomb of knowledge. Also, drink more Campari, it's delicious.

Jared is back from holidays so we just chatted amongst ourselves while we smashed some real good juice, including: Rollick 'Folly' 2019 Riesling, Minimum Wines 2019 San Selvaggio Sangiovese and Vinden Wines 2019 'Charmless Man' Alicante Bouschet. We spoke about all things sustainability (as always), in depth about our new friends Minimum Wines and their ethos, the south coast of NSW, how Sangiovese isn't as simple as it seems, the Seltzer craze and other juicy things! It was nice just chill with Hukky and chat shit; Conor turned up for a random cameo also. All the wines were delicious and some more than others, but we hope you enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed ear assaulting you guys!
