#15 - Why Men Need To Get Over Periods with Sarah Liz King

Episode 2 of Season 2 is here, and this week I'm joined by Exercise Physiologist and Health Coach, Sarah Liz King.

Sarah's mission is to reconnect women with their bodies and inner-selves through intuitive eating, mindful movement and compassion-focussed therapies. Her areas of expertise include eating disorders, exercise addiction and hormonal conditions such as PCOS and Hypothalamic Amenorrhea.

In this conversation, we discuss the work Sarah does around helping women regain their periods after losing them (HA) and the reality of how common it is for women to lose their periods through diet and lifestyle challenges.

We also explored the importance of men overcoming the discomfort of the period conversation, and the benefits to understanding and supporting their partners during their menstrual cycle (essentially, it will improve your emotional and physical connection with your partner 10x fold, chaps - it really is time we get over this stuff, I'm afraid).

A huge thank you to Sarah for coming on - you can find her on IG @sarahlizking

#14 - The True Meaning Of Resilience with Josh Connolly

#14 - The True Meaning Of Resilience with Josh Connolly

Season 2 of The Honest Bloke Podcast is here!

Kicking off season 2, I am delighted to be joined by Josh Connolly - a Resilience Coach and Certified Breathwork Coach.
As one of the UK’s most influential mental health advocates he regularly speaks on BBC, ITV & Channel 5 news. Josh has also spoken in the House of Commons, contributed to mental health policy and even advised the scriptwriting team on Hollyoaks. He has run resilience workshops for village schools and global brands alike. Additionally, he is an ambassador for Nacoa – a national charity supporting people affected by a parent’s drinking.

In this conversation, Josh and I speak about his experiences growing up suppressing emotions, and how that led to early alcohol and drug problems.
Josh shares his experiences around why it’s important for us to learn how to feel and express the emotions we might usually describe as negative in a healthy way.
We also discussed the importance of holding space for others, and why it’s such a difficult thing to do, particularly as men.
A big thank you to Josh for joining me for the first episode of the new season.
