    • Health & Fitness

Welcome to Episode 30 of the Emotional Eats Podcast!

In this episode, Laura Heflin and I had a heartfelt conversation about self-love and health. Laura Heflin is an AFPA certified nutrition and wellness consultant, a three times published author, public speaker and a podcaster. But most importantly to Laura, she's a wife and mom to two beautiful children! Her goal with her business is to help change our cultures way of thinking in regards to "health" for the better by encouraging positivity, self-love and intuitive living.

We dive into the power of self-love and healing through nutrition and exercise. Laura candidly shares her personal fitness journey struggling with an unhealthy obsession with food and exercise, which took a toll on her physical and mental health. She shifted her focus towards healing through nutrition and became a certified holistic nutritionist.

We talk about the profound impact of self-love on body image, self-esteem, and food choices. The discussion also highlighted the importance of self-care and self-love over chasing perfect food choices or exercise routines.

We explore how self-love can reduce stress and improve decision-making, emphasizing self-kindness and curiosity. The impact of stress on hormones, weight loss, and adrenal glands is huge and Laura shares how to manage these.

We share the importance of self-care and boundaries, especially during perimenopause and menopause. We discussed hormone therapy, daily health routines, and structured morning routines to promote self-care.

Self love takes practice on a daily basis and we are wishing you much healing.
