Dr Nina Burrowes is discussing her work on sexual trauma and injustice with Lou and Mel. More about Nina; Dr Nina Burrow is a psychologist, author and activist specialising in the psychology of sexual harm and relationship abuse. She has a passion for ensuring that people can learn about trauma in ways that are easy to connect with. In 2014 she created her first illustrated book 'The courage to be me' which is designed as a gentle psycho-educational resource for survivors of abuse. Following the release of the book, Nina was one of the pioneers in creating short educational videos on YouTube with her popular series Sexual abuse. The questions you've never had the chance to ask. Today Nina is the founder of The Consent Collective, an organisation providing education around consent, trauma, gender and relationships to colleges, universities, police forces, lawyers, judges and workplaces. Her latest project is the online course 'How do people heal from trauma?' a gentle pre-recorded learning experience aimed at educating people living with trauma and those supporting them. Nina is the presenter of the BBC's 'Rape trials. Is the jury out?' and patron of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. Nina is currently travelling the UK holding conversations about healing from the injustices caused by sexual harm and relationship abuse to open a retreat centre for her work at the end of the journey.
