Fascinating bite-sized delight!
Brilliantly entertaining and informative, these little stories from history are broadcast daily on Radio 3 but are beautifully packaged up a few at a time, and woven together by links from Eleanor Rosamund Barraclough. It's a great length for a short break or to play on a commute, and each time you get a few different stories on one theme. The stories give an amusing and enlightening perspective on history, and Eleanor's warm and witty introductions are the icing on the cake.
Charming, informative, entertaining - and what a smooth voice!
This podcast brightens my morning commute. Charming, informative, entertaining - and that’s just Eleanor’s scripts! I find the collation and curation of the original material to be really cleverly done - the themes are always really well illustrated and it feels well-packaged.
For me, one of the joys is how commuter-friendly they are. Short enough for the bus ride, and the right balance of information and entertainment.
And I’ve been captivated by how smooth Eleanor’s voice is! Like a mug of hot chocolate. Wonderfully captivating.
I’ve recommended it to all of my friends.
