Tony battled alcoholism for much of his early football career, famously crashing his car while well over the drink-driving limit in 1990 and being sentenced to four months in Chelmsford Prison (of which he served two). After a long and public recovery process, Tony went on to set up the Sporting Chance Clinic which offers support to sportspeople dealing with addiction.
