Wondering what to listen to next? THIS THIS THIS! Exceptional.

One of the best fiction podcasts I have ever listened to and I wish there were more like this where top-notch acting is combined with incredible sound and music to bring a story to life in your ears. It’s so consistently well executed that you never slip out of the imaginary world of The Sisters, the immersion akin to watching a movie inside your head.

The complex riveting story, plotted across timelines, is combined with exceptional characterisation that draws you so deeply into the lives of the characters that you become trapped, desperate to know what will happen to them next. And where each episode ends with a cliffhanger, there isn’t a chance of escaping the hook. So much so, I reached Episode 8 and found myself bereft having to wait for the next episodes to be released. It’s a rare talent to capture a listener so completely.

Left waiting, desperate for more, I dived into the rest of the series only to be disappointed that no other season even came close to The Sisters. If any had, I would have subscribed in a heartbeat for early paid, ad-free content. Sadly, the quality (particularly the productions and lack of understanding of writing for sound) was like a middle school production by comparison and I’m confused as to why they were lumped together so clumsily.

Realm missed a trick here. They commissioned The Sisters which got this particular listener so thoroughly attached to their hook that it would have been child’s play to extract my credit card details for early access to the final episodes and ad-free content. All they had to do was reel me into similar shows. Instead, they led me from a phenomenally produced, immersive, exorcist-style horror (absolutely my bag) to a poorly produced, puerile fantasy about trolls (not at all my bag). Naturally, I slipped straight off the hook and waited for the final episodes of The Sisters to come out for free, tolerating the ads. Give us more like The Sisters and you’ll have us in the bag!

Hmm, OK

Decent idea, but a but too soppy at times and the ending was all a bit too quick.
