Perfect mix of humour and darkness
I love the paranormal and paranormal podcasts but I don’t tend to enjoy the forced theatrical way most podcasters deliver their content. However, there is a perfect mix of witty humour and freaky stories in this podcast that successfully cheers me up whilst giving me goosebumps all at the same time. What more could you need?
Not so (** BRILLIANT **)
I'm amending my previous 5 star review by dropping it down to a 2.
As the podcast has evolved, it's shifted from a fresh and quirky style where Kevin's natural raw humour was a delight, to a boring show where Kev has progressed to loving the sound of his voice too much. He's like that chap in the pub who is entertaining at first but as soon as he sees he's the group 'clown', he becomes embarrassing unaware of how boring and cliched he's become.
I listened with a complete lack of enjoyment to the first part of the 2020 Halloween offering and was bored. I was annoyed by the constant faux bickering between Kevin and Rebecca, like eavesdropping on a particularly tiresome couple who think they are more entertaining than they really are.
Original review from when the series first started:
Kevin’s whole approach to this topic has to be my new favourite! His whole approach is so refreshing; his humour and ease at the mic sets it apart from many other podcasts in that it seems so unpretentious and ‘honest’. I especially enjoy Rebecca’s appearances as the long-suffering sceptic; the (unscripted) conversations between the two of them are just the sort of moments you’d hear between friends in the same room rather than on a pod. The Macca thing is ... interesting ... and the ‘mid point’ concept makes me laugh. The only downside is that I’d love for each episode to be longer! Oh, and I always listen to the song at the end - what a bonus!
Kev the good egg 👻
Even if you’re not into the supernatural, give this podcast a go. Guarantee Kev’s dulcet tones and brilliant story-telling will leave you chuckling and feeling spookily wonderful. A throughly good scouse egg!
