A fabulous podcast about witches and their relations to us today
I was recommended this podcast and started at the beginning and am loving it. Great hosts and interesting interviees open the doors on what was going on when women weee tried and murdered as witches. And how things right now have a few parallels we should all understand.
Enthralling listen.
I happened upon the podcast entirely by accident 3 weeks ago after going down a witchy wormhole. The structure of the podcast and the quality of both hosts and guests made me hit the subscribe button. I then went on to listen to ALL the episodes (on 1.25/1.5 speed) back to back. I’ve just today finished the last episode so I’m all caught up. Looking forward to hearing more from The Witches of Scotland Podcast and making my own investigations into local cases when our local library re-opens soon. Thank you for giving the people caught up in these cases their names back, and for telling us their stories.
Righting and old wrong
This podcast is helping to redress a very old injustice: the persecution and state-sanctioned execution of thousands of women in Scotland, under the auspices of the Witchcraft Act of 1563-1736.
It’s lovingly crafted by two “bonnie fechters” and has been of great help to me in my work as a guide on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, where I lead tours all about those killing times. Thank you!
