This black history month we will celebrate the thousands of Black nurses that have worked in the NHS over the years.

In this episode, we will celebrate Nurse Folashade Yusuf-Adewuy. Folashade always dreamed of following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming a nurse but never thought it was going to be possible.

Folashade a mum-of-three explains It was always her dream to be a nurse. When Folashade came to the UK from Nigeria She applied to study at the University of Greenwich, but She wasn’t able to take up the place as she was juggling a very young family at that time, it just wasn’t manageable for her at the time.

“ Folashade saw the advert on Facebook for apprentice nurses with Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) and She thought, ‘this her chance’.

Like many keyworkers, the pandemic was not easy for her and her family. Learn more about Folashade journey and how life Coaching helped her overcome her fear of public speaking.

Fathers, like mothers, are pillars in the development of a child’s emotional well-being. Children look to their fathers for boundaries, to provide a feeling of security, both physical and emotional. Children often want to make their fathers proud, and an involved father can promote inner growth and strength. Studies have shown that when fathers are affectionate and supportive, it greatly affects a child’s cognitive and social development. It also instills an overall sense of belonging, well-being, and self-confidence. During the episode, I would like to celebrate and explore the thoughts of some of the great fathers I know and what they would like to teach the next generation about fatherhood.

Michelle Alexander is the Founder of AKA Life Coaching, which is a Family Life Coaching, Family Support and Early Intervention Service for women. 24 years ago Michelle would have never believed that she would have gone to Buckingham Palace, attended Question Time, become a Manager for 14 Years, have worked in Early Intervention for 6 years (Which is a tier of social care) and now run her own business. Michelle is trained in coaching, management, early intervention, child care and education, healthy relationships, domestic violence, Trauma informed practice, autism and parenting facilitation to name a few. Michelle is also a qualified OCR child care assessor, which she conducted in a corporate nursery chain alongside her managerial role. Even with this experience, she struggled to identify as a business owner. This made her pose the question of "why do women although they are more than skilled hesitate when it comes to business and moving up the career ladder?"

In honour of International Women's Day Michelle will explore the topic with women in business and leadership roles. The women she interview’s will discuss Pro's, Con's, successes, challenges, family life and the things that they had to learn and unlearn to be successful.
