I was fortunate and privileged enough to sit down with Kevin Marks, someone I knew in my first career in skateboarding and music and really looked up to and respected, but have really evolved more into friends in recent years. We talk some about skateboarding naturally as he is the person behind the Look Back Library, but we really had a more personal conversation about his origin story, growing up in an analog world, and his general approach to life. More field recordings. I met up with Keith Saarloos from Saarloos and Sons winery in a guest house at his vineyard in Santa Ynez for a talk between two GenX dudes who grew up in Southern California. This was the first episode I’ve recorded with someone I’ve just met, but I think you’ll find we got a long great and had a good conversation. Enjoy.

Scott Bourne, Dad and husband, writer, model, former professional skateboarder, and an important figure in my life. I first met Scott back in 2002 over a phone call for a book idea I had that I wanted Scott to contribute to. In 2004 I went to Europe for my first time and stayed with Scott and that trip was extremely pivotal for the rest of my life. Scott talks about his perspective on his past and present living as an ex-pat in Paris, married with two kids and not having touched a skateboard in years, and just releasing a new children’s book with artist and illustrator Todd Bratrud, “An Act of Imagination.”

My friend Jason is a snowboarder, a punk rocker, a tattoo aficionado…sounds a lot like me so far, right? Except he’s a Christian Pastor, which I most certainly am not. We have a lively conversation about faith and spirituality, being middle-aged, and generally, our lives.

Peter Lavarreda, my closest friend, someone that has been with me through a lot (and vice versa) over the last decade, finally appears on the show as the main guest/topic, just before he is moving across the country.
