    On this episode of ‘Network Outdoors The Podcast’ Brandon Malson sits down to discuss upland hunting wild birds with Gareth Allen, avid outdoorsman and owner of Bird Up Guide Service.

    They dive deep into wild pheasants, grouse and woodcock, where to find them on public land, hunting strategies, how to e-scout, what to do once you’re able to get boots on the ground, weather patterns, and how Gareth runs his dogs. Gareth shares insight to bird feeding habits, roosting patterns, breeding, early season and late season strategies, migratory flight patterns, bird behaviors when hunting pressure increases, and also discusses some different state laws that have been helpful to increase bird populations.

    Gareth bought his first hunting dog at 13 and then harvested his first wild game bird. He’s been hooked ever since which has led him to train dogs, guide professionally, run his German Shorthair Pointers (GSP) at local hunt clubs for clients, and be an advocate for the sport all over the state of Michigan.
