Victor Davis Hanson is well known for his intelligent commentary and astute analysis of current events. But for his latest book, he tackles a topic related to his work on military history. It’s called “The End of Everything: How Wars Descend Into Annihilation.”
Hanson studied four historical examples of wartime extinction that he features in the book. Then he applies those lessons to contemporary society to examine our own vulnerabilities. The book is on sale today, and Hanson spoke with The Daily Signal to share his observations along with some advice about what’s at stake for the United States in the short term.

After the Biden administration released its new Title IX rule on April 19, it took less than two weeks for the Defense of Freedom Institute to file a lawsuit against it. 
“We are asking the court to … basically stop the effect of the regulations for a variety of legal reasons," says Robert Eitel, the institute's co-founder and president. That's because the rule change is “simply unlawful,” he explained. 
Among the changes to Title IX, the Biden administration is attempting to redefine sex to include gender identity and sexual orientation. Title IX is an education amendment that was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in 1972 and requires there be equal opportunities for men and women in schools across the country. 
Eitel says the Biden administration’s attempt to redefine sex in Title IX is “federal overreach.” 
The states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, and Idaho filed the suit with the Washington-based Defense of Freedom Institute, a conservative nonprofit dedicated to providing policy and legal solutions within the spheres of education and the workforce. 
Eitel joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the lawsuit against the Biden administration’s new Title IX rule. He also explains what should be done about the ever-growing issue of student loan debt, and why President Joe Biden can’t legally issue mass student loan forgiveness.

Terrorists in the Middle East do not despise America only because the U.S. supports Israel, but because America is a Western society, according to Simcha Rothman, a member of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
“But people that attack us, they are after the U.S. just the same,” Rothman says. 
“The chant in Iran—‘Death to America, Death to Israel’—it’s not a typo that America comes first,” Rothman asserts, adding that terrorists in the Middle East view Israel “as part of Western society that is stuck in the middle of the Middle East.” 
Because Western ideals threaten the radical ideology Islamic terrorists hold, this makes Israel, and America, an enemy, according to the Knesset member. 
Within the Knesset, Rothman serves as the chairman of the Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee and as a co-chairman of the “Land of Israel” caucus.
