(#010) Things I Know How to Do Now Because of Antarctica Antarctica Did That For Me

    • Self-Improvement

Have you ever thought you knew what an experience was going to bring, and then turned out to be WAY off?

Going to Antarctica for the first time, there were things we both thought we “knew” about what to expect… but we never expected the unique skills we’d build from being “on ice.”

In this episode, we (your hosts, Keri Nelson and Cassa Grant) discuss the unexpected skills and knowledge we gained while working in Antarctica.

These skills varied from the wacky things we didn't expect to do, like learning to play music and handling penguins for research… to driving unique vehicles like Ivan the Terra Bus and Zodiacs, understanding weather patterns, and observing marine mammals.

We’ve found that skills acquired in Antarctica can be valuable in other contexts, like project management, communication, and persuasion, which are all critical skills in a remote environment like Antarctica.

What unexpected skills have YOU built over the years? And how do they help you today? This episode is a chance for you to see your progress and appreciate how far you’ve come.
