S09E27: In Tomlin We Trust? (Free Agency Review)

S09E27: In Tomlin We Trust? (Free Agency Review)

IN TOMLIN WE TRUST? (FREE AGENCY REVIEW)

It’s free agency season in the NFL and teams have been scrambling to fill gaps in their rosters and load up on valuable talent. Well, that’s the theory anyway. The AFQ boys break down all the big moves and questionable decisions and ponder how it will impact the NFL landscape going forward.
As well as a position-by-position breakdown, we focus on the actions of three teams in particular:
    - The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a big change to their QB room, getting rid of Kenny Pickett to bring in both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Will this gamble pay off, or will the old saying that having two starting QBs mean you have no starting QBs come to pass?
    - The Tennessee Titans have entered the Brian Callahan era with a bang, bringing in skill players Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard on the offensive side and loading up on big names defensively, including a tasty-looking CB pair. In an increasingly competitive AFC South, will this be enough to make the Titans relevant, or at least an interesting watch?
    - The New York Jets are firmly in win-now mode, adding a slew of O-line talent to protect Aaron Rodgers’ vulnerable Achilles as well as a new weapon in Mike Williams. Can the Jets escape the gravity of their own chaos to be competitive this year, or will the Jets inevitably be the Jets?

We also take a look at other recent NFL news, focusing on the rule changes recently approved by the owners. The new kickoff rules sound unnecessarily complex, but will they result in more successful returns or just messy scrums on the 30-yard line? The hip swivel tackle has been banned, but will this make tackling impossible in the NFL and how will close cases be interpreted? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!

S09E25: Always Bet on (Big) Red (Super Bowl 58 Review)

S09E25: Always Bet on (Big) Red (Super Bowl 58 Review)

The Chiefs land their third Super Bowl of the Mahomes era, their first back to back one, and the question remains; who can beat the Chiefs?
We delve into the game, what matchups were key, the coaching decisions that won and lost the game and what should have been different. We also look at what this means for both teams next season, and what other teams around the league should be looking to do to overcome this new dynasty in the AFC.
We also discuss other news from around the league, coaching hires and what to look forward to in the offseason ahead. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!

S09E24: The Tortured Passers Department (Super Bowl 58 Preview)

S09E24: The Tortured Passers Department (Super Bowl 58 Preview)

It’s the most important pod of the year – the Pro Bowl Review. The AFQ boys break down the highlights and lowlights of the biggest weekend in the NFL calendar, from Tua’s underwhelming passing to Brandon Aubrey being screwed over by the Kick-Tack-Toe judges. We also mourn the demise of the glory days of the Pro Bowl, when the game itself mattered and the team that won it actually won the Pro Bowl.

Needing to fill the rest of our time, the guys then turn to preview some obscure game called the ‘Super Bowl’, contested this year by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Can the Chiefs offense succeed against a high-calibre defense without leaning too heavily on the lesser lights of their disappointing receiver corps? Can Brock Purdy be relied on to step up if the 49ers offensive game is placed on his shoulders? And how jetlagged will Taylor Swift be if she manages to turn up to cheer on Travis? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
