This podcast has made me a better fan!
I’m going to give these guys my ultimate compliment: they’ve actually helped me to enjoy baseball more and made me a smarter fan of the game. Their commentary on my favorite team is incredibly smart and wide-ranging: the players’s performance and why they are or are not performing well, the team’s sabermetrics and its unquantifiable human elements, the manager and the GM’s decisions (like, how to fix the team), the other teams and how their players match up, the game itself and how it is changing and needs to change - along with silly league gossip and just funny banter. Anthony and Bob are quintessential Philly baseball fans, in that they (1) know a ton about the game, (2) are passionate about winning, and (3) have strong opinions and pull no punches. When guys are horrendous, they get called horrendous. But they’re also usually fair (I think) in giving credit where it’s due. This podcast is certainly not for everybody - if you’re looking for “we love our team no matter what, win or lose”, or “this is just a game, so lighten up and just enjoy it”, you’ll want to look elsewhere for that. But if you want smart, impassioned analysis, this podcast is awesome.
