    More about today’s show:
Structuring our diet so as to minimize our environmental footprint is baked into the nutrition narrative.
It’s why Dr. Shawn Baker says, “The best diet for the environment is the one that keeps you out of the hospital!”

    Huh?
The US healthcare system alone generates five times more greenhouse gasses (GHG) than animal agriculture does.
That wasn’t a typo: the healthcare sector adds significantly to air pollution, including acid rain, greenhouse gas emissions, smog formation and more.
So, if you care about the environment, a diet and lifestyle that help you avoid hospitalization is best!
Here are some of my favorite key moments in this conversation:
17:38 The environmental burden of the US healthcare sector
    22:00 Low levels of carnitine
    48:25 Is fiber actually healthy?

Nerd Alert #5: mTOR, Protein and Cancer in Context

Nerd Alert #5: mTOR, Protein and Cancer in Context

mTOR is an enzyme that’s expressed when nutrients and growth factors are abundant, like after you eat a big meal.

Use coupon code HIH to save on our new formulas
Links to science and video: http://bit.ly/mTOR-science
    About Today's Show:
Certain “longevity experts” talk about how mTOR is an initiator for cancer and other diseases, so in seeking to avoid these diseases, folks should strive to avoid mTOR activation.
Naturally, the conversation will then lean towards avoiding protein and eating more plant-based foods.
The problem with this narrative is that it’s only half the story: plant-derived foods can stimulate mTOR just like animal foods can.
This new video may clear up the confusion and help you better understand the loads of confusion about mTOR, protein, cancer and other diseases.
P.S. Learn new science from mTORman David Sabatini about what regulates mTOR and its involvement in various diseases.

This podcast is second to none, not one episode has yet disappointed me. Very genuine and passionate people involved in every episode so far, brought to us in a very inviting, casual tone, with the perfect concoction of science and layman information. What I love is how current the research is, coming from in-practice clinicians. Absolutely love it and recommend to everyone!

Incredible interviews and powerful information!

It is always a great experience to sit down and listen to different points of views from a wide variety of guests. Mike conducts the interviews in such a way that is easy to understand but also challenges the guests with pretty good questions! Excellent.
