why are we tested? | Quranic Reflection Takeover Ep By Anse Dr. Farhana Yunus
"Why are we tested?"
"What is the purpose of this test?"
"How does creating a relationship with the Quran exactly help me in my tests?"
These are questions that cross our minds when we face hardships. We know Allah is there to help us, we know we are rewarded, and we know the Quran is our guidance through difficulty. However, for some reason, the burden of hardship continues to overwhelm us.
To discuss this important topic, I have teamed up with Anse Dr. Farhana Yunus from Rabata for this takeover episode. She sheds light on why we are tested and how we can find comfort in such painful trials.

Immigrant parents, decision-making & being the "dream child" | islamic feelings
The discussion surrounding decision-making and pursuing one's dreams while having immigrant parents is always challenging for most young adults. While you deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made, it also brings a sense of pressure to meet their expectations. As you progress in life and make choices that may be Islamically correct but deviate from the "ideal child mold," finding a balance between pleasing your parents and prioritizing your own happiness can be difficult. This episode delves into precisely this topic.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Never is a servant struck by worry or grief but let him say, ‘O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand, Your decision over me has passed, and Your decree upon me is in justice. I ask You by every name with which You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to one of Your creatures, or kept hidden in the Unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light within me, the banisher of my depression, and the expeller of my anxiety,’ then Allah will expel his worry and replace his grief with joy.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, should we study these words?” The Prophet said, “Of course, whoever hears them should study them.”

Al-Zubayr ibn ‘Awwam reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"Lurking towards you are the diseases of the nations before you. Envy and hatred are the razor. I do not say they shave hair, but rather they shave the religion. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you have faith and you will not have faith until you love each other. Shall I tell you what can affirm that for you? Spread peace between yourselves"

practical tips #3: trust your gut | islamic feelings
indecisiveness & "trusting our gut" can be very hard at times. in most cases, it is easy to change your mind and spin in the circles of indecisiveness but these circles usually go nowhere. however, if you make a decision that is incredibly rational & thought through, while referring to Islam in mind, it can make the process a lot easier.
this small ep talks about exactly this 🤍

feeling like an imposter within your faith | islamic feelings
Feeling like a fraud within your own faith or feeling like you're not "Muslim enough" can be a tough challenge when you're trying to grow in your faith. It can come from someone outside reminding you of your past, or from your own personal struggles making it hard to see yourself differently. You might feel unworthy or like you're not being "truthful" in your faith. This episode will cover some general tips on this big topic to hopefully help someone who is stuck between these feelings.
"The Prophet PBUH said, "When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell..."
