The Mosque in New York debate that is currently going on changes every day. A few days ago there were huge numbers of people defending it, including Muslims, politicians and regular New Yorkers, as well as family members of people who died during 9/11. The main defence was that it showed America’s forgiving side, and displayed their freedom of religion banner to the whole world. People like me, who viewed it as provocation towards Americans, were laughed at, told that it wasn’t provocation because it was something that was legal. Today I read that the work is due to begin in 2011. September 11, 2011. The tenth anniversary of 9/11. If that isn’t provocation, I don’t know what is.
