EPISODE #16 - The Mind & Body experience.

EPISODE #16 - The Mind & Body experience.

I had been trying to get this podcast with Dan for a while but finally it was worth the wait. Dan and I know each other from our footballing days. A former professional himself and now a full time teacher we discussed about the mind and body perception. We’ve both had serious injuries that had required us to have invasive surgery. In this episode we went a little deeper talking about different routes to healing the body, through acknowledgement of psychosomatic disorders, external and internal cognitive traumas and the role of nutrition to reduce inflammation and mood. I’m sure we could’ve gone on for longer on other topics!

EPISODE #15 - Hacks to longevity and peak performance.

EPISODE #15 - Hacks to longevity and peak performance.

It’s been a while guys! After a long lay off and Hong Kong opening up to the rest of the world, I sat down with the head managers at hybrid, Gabriel and Dave along with Jamie one of the mentor coaches. The post covid area has people trying to figure out what health really is. In this short but intriguing discussion we touched upon the role of sugar, the parameters of strength training on an athlete, and how food and resistance training can keep you away from the doctor for a longer life.

EPISODE #14 - So you want to be a fighter.

EPISODE #14 - So you want to be a fighter.

Professional MMA fighter Lucas Calu from Fortaleza, Brazil was kind enough to share his stories with me in such an unforgiving sport. Motivated by fear and adrenaline Lucas describes when he first started his journey into fighting. We also touch upon the different arts of striking, wrestling, and jujitsu. What’s it like to prepare not only physically but mentally before an event, and why weight cutting is harder than the actual fight itself!

EPISODE #13 - The perspective from pro Footballers.

Another closure down in Hong Kong, the HK premier league has once again come to an abrupt holt. I managed to find some time to talk to players from Southern FC current league leaders of the HK Premier league. It was a wonderful time being able to listen to what Jack Sealy, James Ha and Toby Down had to say and hear what most fans/casuals don't see behind closed doors. From development of sports science, to pre match rituals and their toughest opponents they've faced on the pitch. Di Maria, Jack Grealish and John Terry to name a few!

EPISODE #12 - Covid, Friends and Family.

What a year it’s been. With 2022 looming around the corner, what better way to complete the last episode with two of my closest friends, who I see as family, Aarjav and Leo. Both such insightful and intelligent individuals we covered what the most positive thing that has come out of covid these past two years. Lots of laughs and banter we also touched up upon how the world is changing so fast that it’s important to embrace your loved ones and not take life too seriously!

EPISODE #11 -The New Age of Physiotherapy.

EPISODE #11 -The New Age of Physiotherapy.

It was a long time coming, but finally Adam, Eddie and Simon cleared out their busy schedule as sports physiotherapist working at Joint Dynamics to discuss what they their occupation has taught them. We could’ve gone on for hours, but one of the many interesting topics we covered, was how the body heals, invasive vs non invasive procedures, WHY movement is better than ICING an injury and the numerous benefits of trying out physiotherapy.
