    Healing from Stillbirth

    Healing from Stillbirth

Welcome to another episode of the Tendrils of Grief podcast. Today, we have a deeply moving and inspiring guest, Elizabeth “Liz” O’Donnell. After the heart-wrenching experience of being sent home empty-handed from the hospital following the stillbirth of her daughter, Aaliyah, Liz decided to share her pain publicly. Her Instagram post, showing her holding Aaliyah in her hospital bed, went viral, drawing attention to the often overlooked struggles of stillborn families.
Fueled by the outpouring of support and a desire to honor her daughter’s spirit, Liz left her teaching career to advocate for parents of stillborn children. She founded the nonprofit organization Aaliyah in Action, which provides curated “self-care” packages as a first step toward healing for birthing parents and families. Liz also took on the fight for more compassionate maternity leave laws, successfully pushing for the passage of an Emergency Bereavement Bill in D.C. in March 2021. Today, Aaliyah in Action has partnered with 21 hospitals across six states and the District of Columbia.
Liz's advocacy work continues nationally as the Co-Director of Awareness for PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy, a parent-led group dedicated to reducing the U.S. stillbirth rate and empowering expectant families. Recently, PUSH launched a Pregnancy After Loss Provider Training program to help prenatal care providers offer sensitive care to patients who are pregnant again after a perinatal loss.
Join us as we delve into Liz's journey, her mission to support and advocate for stillborn families, and her tireless efforts to create meaningful change.

Opening Up To The Journey Grief Takes You On

Welcome to another enlightening episode of our podcast! Today, we're honored to introduce Tara Nash, a remarkable individual who has transformed her life journey from the fashion world in London to becoming a dedicated advocate for conscious grieving and spiritual healing.
Tara's story is one of profound transformation and resilience. After years of running from her grief, she made a courageous decision to uproot her life and pursue a master's degree in Spiritual Psychology in Los Angeles. It was during this transformative period, thousands of miles away from her familiar surroundings, that Tara finally confronted the deep-seated pain of losing both her parents at a young age.
Her father's sudden passing from a heart attack when she was just 9, followed by her mother's battle with breast cancer and subsequent passing when she was 21, left Tara navigating a journey of grief that went unrecognized by traditional therapy and coaching methods. Determined to uncover the truths and complexities of grief, Tara delved into a journey of self-discovery and healing.
Today, Tara is on a mission to shed light on the often-misunderstood process of grief. Through her unique approach, which includes Grief Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Breathwork, and the Conscious Grief Program, Tara helps individuals move through their grief with mindfulness and compassion. Join us as we delve into Tara's inspiring story and gain valuable insights into the transformative power of conscious grieving. Stay tuned for an insightful and empowering conversation!
