    EVIE│Into The Texas Wilderness

    EVIE│Into The Texas Wilderness

For this episode of The All-Around Adventure Podcast, I'm joined by avid hiker and outdoor guide, Evie.
Evie has covered a lot of ground and has lived in a variety of different places. She was born in California, spent five years of her childhood in Saudi Arabia, lived in Kansas, and now resides in Texas. Along the way, she also sought out different ways to get outdoors and have some incredible adventures. She's a licensed skydiver who has completed over 600 jumps, as well as a certified scuba diver. However, after basing herself in Texas, she's found hiking to be the activity that she's most drawn to. And now she seeks to share some of her favorite nature spots in the state with singles in their 30s and 40s through her business, Evie Outdoors.
In this episode, Evie tells us some of her stories from her adventures around the world as well as in Texas. And as someone who's skydived and scuba dived myself, I couldn't resist asking her about her experiences with doing those activities. Furthermore, we discuss how getting out and experiencing nature with others is a great way to build connection and community.

    DR. ANDREW KINKELLA│On Mayan Archaeology

    DR. ANDREW KINKELLA│On Mayan Archaeology

For this episode of The All-Around Adventure Podcast, I'm joined by Mayan archaeologist and educator, Dr. Andrew Kinkella.
Dr. Kinkella originally went to college to pursue acting. However, after taking and enjoying a few archaeology classes, he took great interest in the subject. This newfound interest eventually led him to Central America to conduct fieldwork on Mayan archaeological sites. And he's been back to Central America over many field seasons to continue to study Mayan culture. And he even discovered a new Mayan pyramid. Along the way, he's also sought to share the wonders of archaeology with the public through various TV productions. As well as through his YouTube channel and his Pseudo-Archaeology Podcast.
In this episode, Dr. Kinkella tell some of his stories from traveling to the jungles of Central America to study Mayan culture. He also talks about the lessons that we can learn by studying the civilizations that came before us. Furthermore, we discuss the importance of pursuing what you want to do in life even if other people don't like it.

    To Have A Purpose

    To Have A Purpose

Back towards the end of 2021, I walked across the entire state of Michigan. Along the way, I met a woman who was nearing 100 years old. Though her age didn't seem to slow her down a bit. That's because, as she told me, she had a purpose. In this solocast, I tell that story and discuss how you can find your own purpose in life.
Also, the cabin resort that I mentioned in this episode that I stayed at in Michigan's upper peninsula is the East Lake Resort!

    KEN ANDERLITCH│Run Texas

    KEN ANDERLITCH│Run Texas

For this episode of The All-Around Adventure Podcast, I'm joined by ultrarunner and sobriety advocate, Ken Anderlitch.
Ken's past was not an easy one. At the age of 14, he began using drugs and alcohol and struggled with addition for many years. Though in his late-20s, he sought to turn his life around and completed a rehabilitation program. As well as move into a sober living space at the non-profit organization, Pay it Forward. Not long after, he found a passion for running and decided to use it as a means to help others who were also struggling with addition. Towards the end of 2022, Ken set out to run across the entire state of Texas. An ordeal that led him to run an average of 45 miles a day for 19 days straight!
In this episode, Ken tells some of his stories from his past struggles with addiction. He also talks about his journey across Texas and the challenges that he faced along the way. Furthermore, we discuss sober living and how to continue to move forward to live the life that you want to live.

    A Sheathed Sword

    A Sheathed Sword

“When in a fight to the death, one wants to employ all one's weapons to the utmost. I must say that to die with one's sword still sheathed is most regrettable.” ― Miyamoto Musashi, A Book of Five Rings
Although Musashi is referring to literal sword duels to the death. I feel that this quote is a great analogy for many facets of life. In this solocast, I discuss figurative swords that many of us have sheathed that prevent us from living life to the utmost.
