Episode 33: To Love One's Fate

Episode 33: To Love One's Fate

In this episode we discuss the concept of "amor fati" or the love of one's fate, as proposed by the philosopher Nietzsche. We explore how embracing all experiences, past and present, with acceptance and love, can lead to freedom from suffering.
We delve into the stages of awakening and enlightenment, which involve recognising one's true nature as pure consciousness beyond the personal identity. The initial stage is often marked by a gap or glimpse beyond the clouded experience of phenomena, where the unchanging awareness is revealed.
However, we clarify that this is not the final stage, as there can still be a subtle duality between the witnessing self and the observed world. Further integration and maturation is required to fully embody non-duality, where all experiences are recognised as expressions of the one Self.
We also touch on themes like forgiveness, letting go of regrets and judgments, and the developmental unfolding of awakening over time. We explore metaphors and analogies to illustrate the gradual clearing of perception as one moves from ignorance to embodied non-dual realisation.
    Enjoy.

Episode 32: Navigating Intuition and Fear

Episode 32: Navigating Intuition and Fear

In this episode we discussing fear and its relationship to intuitive knowingness. We explore how we can identify our internal sense of guidance and discern when fear is clouding our judgment versus when we are receiving clear intuitive signals. We discuss tools like Human Design that can help locate one's intuitive authority.
While fear is a normal emotion, we talk about how it should not be interpreted as guidance. Intuition provides a pre-rational sense of yes or no that we must learn to trust over rational thinking or reactions of fear.
This episode helps untangle these concepts to gain clarity on decision-making.

Episode 31: Embracing the Mystic Heart

Episode 31: Embracing the Mystic Heart

In this episode we dive into the mystical path and what it means to embrace the "wildness" of spiritual awakening beyond rigid traditions and structures. We discuss the seeming contradictions between non-dual teachings and the devotional love for divine forms like Mother Mary, and how the mystic path holds these paradoxes.
We reflect on the pain of leaving behind spiritual communities in order to surrender to our own unscripted mystical unfoldment, offering insights from our journeys into finding an authentic way through periods of darkness without external authorities to rely upon.
Join us for an illuminating dialogue for anyone drawn to the depths and mysteries of spiritual awakening beyond prescriptive paths and called by the mystic's heart.

Episode 30: Meeting in the Depths

Episode 30: Meeting in the Depths

In this episode we explore how in our daily lives we often struggle to truly meet others and be present with the full breadth of their experience. Consumed by the chatter of our minds, we miss subtle emotions, sensations, and the depths of our inner lives. While pleasant feelings are easy to embrace, difficult ones are often avoided - yet suppressing strong emotions leads to suffering.
True growth requires extending beyond our boundaries into the unknown, which can trigger fear. But meeting ourselves and others without conditions, through compassionate listening and tender witnessing, is the essence of healing.
We also discuss how Satsang is not not an intellectual exercise, but an experiential journey of self-inquiry.
Noting how meditation and self-inquiry are complementary practices for accessing the present moment. The living transmission of satsang supports clarity until we awaken to the truth: "I am That which is being pointed to."
Join us on this tender exploration of what it truly means to meet another human being in the depths.

Episode 29: Breaking Free from Expectations

Episode 29: Breaking Free from Expectations

Welcome to episode 29 where we're exploring some obstacles on the path to spiritual awakening. How expectations can often cloud our perception of the obvious. We discuss how these expectations can lead us astray, causing us to bump into our own assumptions rather than see reality for what it is.
We discuss how aiming for future attainment can be a strategy to avoid the present moment. We also explore the paths of the householder and the renunciate, observing that enlightenment is not reserved for those living a monastic lifestyle.
In today's internet age, are there more awakened beings out there? With increased access to teachings and teachers and spiritual connections, it's a possibility we explore.
We also dive into the cultural trappings surrounding spiritual traditions, separating the essential from the superfluous.
We talk about the way intimate relationships can serve awakening. We discuss the power of mutual mirroring and how it can deepen our spiritual growth.
We note that Self-inquiry isn't an intellect process. It uses the mind to transcend the mind. The 'answer' to the question "who am I" is experiential not intellectual.
We explore the need to meet fear in the body and embrace the raw reality of truth, even when it challenges our beliefs. And so courage and curiosity is required on the path of spiritual exploration.
    Enjoy.

Episode 28: Why The Awakened Teach

Episode 28: Why The Awakened Teach

In this episode we discuss the motivations behind why awakened beings can feel called to teach. We explore how wisdom naturally emerges during awakening.
We note the seeker's unwavering focus on ending suffering and uncovering liberating truths, and talk about the concept of the "two-turnings," transitioning from inner exploration to outward engagement after liberation.
We discuss how our ability to connect with others depends on our ability to explore our own depths and how contingent identities don't offer much safety.
We also explore the notion of the Bodhisattva as a description of awakened tendencies. Particularly in regard to the spontaneous emergence of compassion and loving-kindness. We'll also reflect on the humbling realization that  “I’m not doing anything.”
From valuing small acts of kindness to embracing broken-heartedness as a gateway to compassion, we'll touch on various paths to understanding happiness and the nature of suffering.
We talk about nondoership and how that idea is received differently in different states of consciousness.
And we discuss how the work of spiritual mentorship and teaching is richly beneficial for both mentor and mentee.
As always, much more besides. Enjoy.
